Gayle Brady Glenn Wright at age 68 passed away Saturday, October 14th, peacefully surrounded by her family at IMC in Murray, Utah.

She was born in Murray, Utah on August 31, 1949 to Edwin O’Neal and Donna Brady Glenn.

She grew up in Midvale, Utah and Graduated from Hillcrest High School. After high school she worked at the LDS church offices. She then married her best friend and forever sweetheart Don Wright on June 4,1971 in the Salt Lake Temple. They later resided in Sandy, Utah where they raised their 3 children.

Gayle was an amazing wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was so kind and always put family first. She was always looking for a good book to read and liked listening to music. When her children were younger she enjoyed participating in a bowling league once a week. She always liked doing fun art projects, especially for the holidays. One of her favorite things was to travel with her family and husband. After Don retired they spent a lot of time together traveling where they were able to see and share some wonderful experiences together. She really appreciated and cherished the time she was able to serve in the Jordan River Temple alongside her husband. Her family was the light of her life and she especially loved her visits from her grandchildren.

Survived by her husband Don Wright; son James (Charity) Wright; daughter Kim (Tim) Shirley; grandchildren Lilli Wright, James Jr. Wright, Addison Shirley, Drew Shirley, Kendall Shirley; sister Jerri Oborn; and brother Garth Glenn. Preceded in death by her father Edwin O’Neal Glenn; mother Donna Brady Glenn; and son Neal Wright.

Gayle will be remembered for her kind, thoughtful, genuine, and generous personality that blessed so many that knew her. She was a great example of optimism in the face of adversity.

  • Dear Wrights,

We are saddened at the loss of a beloved friend. Gayle was a delight to all who knew her. Her warmth and friendship when you lived in our Sandy 5th ward was missed just when you moved away from us. That loss is even greater now. May you find peace and comfort in knowing she is in the tender loving care of our Heavenly Father and our precious Savior, and beloved family members ready to greet Gayle with open arms of love on the other side.

  • Kim-
I am so sorry for your loss and am thinking about you and your family. It’s difficult to know exactly what to say in these situations but your mom was a wonderful woman. When we were in High School I remember her ordering flowers on her birthday to be sent to her mother. I don’t remember exactly what was said but it was suggested that she wouldn’t even have a birthday to celebrate if it wasn’t for your grandmother. That was incredibly impactful to me and I have sent my mother flowers on my birthday every year since hearing that. She was an example of love and I am grateful for the difference she made for me. Sending love and prayers your way my friend!
