H. Duain Caylor was born January 8, 1928 in Mancos, Colorado to H. Edward and Helen Ida Caylor.  He passed away in his home on Thursday November 2, 2017.  He is survived by his two daughters Diane (Bruce) Smith-Lewsadder and Carol Ann Carmen; brother, Ivan Caylor, 14 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by wives Charlene Brown Caylor and Leone H. Caylor; siblings Ron Caylor and Marion King and children Jimmie-Lynn Caylor and Kerry Lane Caylor-Lindberg.

Duain spent his youth in southwest Colorado, herding sheep, hunting, and fishing.  He said the best days of his life were the two summers he spent alone when he was 14 and 15 years herding sheep in the Colorado mountains.  After marrying Charlene in 1946, he later moved to Durango, Co and raised his four children there, working as a heavy machine operator.  He moved his family to Bountiful, UT in 1967 and soon thereafter became a business partner of Scott Machinery where he sold John Deer Tractors.  He enjoyed multiple trips to Alaska to fish, gardening, and woodworking.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy, UT at 2:30 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

  • As Duain’s physician for many years I mourn his passing with all of you. We had a wonderful relationship, and became close friends. He will be missed as a part of our clinic family , and leaves sorrow among our staff.
Regretfully, I did not hear of his services until too late to attend. I hope they went well and that he was appropriately honored.
    My Deep Sympathy,
    David Jack, M.D.
