Born in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Michael Dean and D. Karen Eades Jones, I grew up in Sugarhouse, attending Hawthorne Elementary, Hillside Junior High, and graduating from Highland High School in 1994. If I learned anything from my parents, it’s to be honest and hard working. I began working at age 14 after school for Hale Bakery, and at age 15 began working for Hogi Yogi, a sandwich and frozen yogurt shop. I enjoyed my friends and employers there and stayed until age 21, when I decided to serve a full-time mission for the LDS Church. I was called to the Phillipines Bacolod mission, leaving in August of 1997 and returning in January of 1999.

I began working for Larkin Mortuary in May of 1999 at their Sunset Lawn facility as a secretary. It wasn’t really a career choice at the time, just a job I took while I was deciding what to do next. Somehow, 17 years later, here I am still working for Larkin Mortuary! I feel like I’ve “grown up” here – I met my husband, Dave Chapman, at our singles ward in Sugarhouse and we were married July 8, 2000 in the Manti LDS Temple. We had our first child, Isaac Jeremy, in August of 2004 and our daughter, Lauren Ashley, on St. Patrick’s Day in 2009. Though I often wish our circumstances would have allowed me to be a stay at home mom, I’m happy knowing that I work for a family owned, service oriented company, and hope that the work I do here helps grieving families in some small way.

I currently handle all our death certificates, burial and crematory records, and property deeds for graves purchased in our cemeteries. My father passed away in 2013, and is buried here at Larkin Sunset Lawn, a beautiful and peaceful place where I enjoy visiting with him on my lunch break. I feel that my experience prepared me to better understand what our families are feeling when they lose a loved one, and helped me take better care of them.

In my spare time (which is rare!) I enjoy reading Mary Higgins Clark novels, watching Jane Austen movies (which earns me relentless teasing from my husband and son!), and spending time with my family. I have an interest in accounting and hope to someday further my education in that field, but until then, I’ll stay here with my friends at Larkin Mortuary!
