Barbara Brita Wright, maiden name Anderson, age 76. Born June 15, 1943 Riverton, Wyoming.  Passed away October 19, 2019, Salt Lake City, Utah. Born to Arvid J. Anderson and Gladys Anderson, Riverton, Wyoming. Joined in Holy Matrimony to Gregory Clark Wright of Casper, Wyoming on June 6, 1964.

After high school, Barbara earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Casper Community College where she met her husband of 55 years, Gregory.  In their early years, Greg and Barbara lived in Casper, Minneapolis, Washington DC, Lompoc and Redondo Beach before settling down to raise their family in Boulder, CO.  Barbara worked for many years at Eisenhower Elementary in the office befriending many teachers and students; she later worked for 15 years at the Economics Institute, University of Colorado.  There she supported foreign exchange students new to the United States.   Throughout their time in Boulder, Barb and Greg opened their home to family and strangers who stayed with them for various lengths of time always providing them a warm home and friendship.

The couple moved to Longmont in 1990 and when her nest emptied, Barbara fully embraced an active lifestyle – she would walk, bike, hike, enjoy cards with friends, play tennis or pickle ball daily.  Barb and Greg supported their community through a senior citizens network in Longmont, CO teaching computer classes, organizing events and volunteering at Longmont United Hospital.

Along with traveling and loving her husband Greg, tennis was Barb’s retirement passion.  From summer and winter leagues to qualifying for national tournaments to watching professionals on TV or in person and just knocking the ball back and forth with Greg or her Grandchildren, Barbara loved and excelled at tennis.

God’s plan was perfect: she loved and lived a great life and in her last 90 days on earth, grandsons Cole and Spencer and granddaughter, Ava spent a week with her hiking and playing.  She visited Omaha for her grandchildren’s fall homecoming and guard performance and sipped wine on a glorious fall day with Kim and Brad.  She visited Salt Lake City to help Brittany move, she and Greg visited Lake Powell, and she hiked Mill Creek Canyon and visited Park City, Utah with her daughters and loving husband.

She was preceded in death by parents Arvid Anderson and Gladys Anderson of Riverton; sister in law Penny Neubauer Wright and father and mother in law Maurice Wright and June Wright all of Casper.

Barbara is survived by her husband Greg Wright, three children, Brad Wright and wife Kim Alley Wright, Brenda Wright Henderson her husband Todd Henderson and Brittany Wright Clelan and her husband Angelo Clelan.  Two brothers, Robert Anderson and Norman Anderson and nephews Scott Ortiz, Lou Ortiz McGivern, Vaughn Neubauer, Nicki Nuebauer, Justin Kirkley, Melissa Kirkley, and Cory Anderson.

Barbara loved and cherished her grandchildren, Taylor Alley, Drew Alley, Lauren Alley, Spencer Henderson, Cooper Clelan, Cole Henderson, Carson Wright, Olivia Wright and Ava Wright as well as great-grandchildren Jayden (Alley) Anderson, Everly Alley, Payton Alley and Harper Alley.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held in 2020 in the Boulder-Longmont area during Spring when the Lord renews life and the sun shines brightly on the mountains and trails Barbara so loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends donate to the charity of their choice in her memory or the Friends of the Longmont Senior Center at www.friendslongmont.org
