Dorothy Diane Willey, born June 21, 1941, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on August 10, 2019. Diane was the 3rd child of Douglas and Dorothy Willey. She was raised in Salt Lake City with her beloved siblings, Neil, Lee and Colleen. Diane had a very happy childhood. She attended Highland High School where she enjoyed school and was a cheerleader. She later attended the University of Utah and served as a song leader and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. It was while in high school that she met her future spouse, Jim Wilson, at the age of 16. He was attending the University of Utah. Jim then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and when he returned, the two were married on March 16, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple.

The couple moved to California for job opportunities and to be near family during the first years of marriage where their three boys were born. The couple eventually moved to Sandy, Utah where their two daughters were born. Jim and Diane filled their home and lives with lots of music, ball games, dancing and fun outings and adventures. Everyone always felt safe and cared for. Diane also spent much of her time serving in her church community. Jim and Diane celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage together before Jim passed away in 2017. Diane will be missed by all who knew her but is now happily reunited with her parents, sister, husband and son Brian.

Survivors include siblings, Neil (Lisa) Willey of Springville, Lee (Melena) of South Jordan, children, Steve (Debbie) of Lehi, Sean (Tara) of St. Johns, Arizona, Sheri (Brandon) of Lehi and Kristin (Brian) of Draper. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren.

A viewing for Diane will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 9:00 – 10:45 am, at the Telford Ward, 1835 East, Creek Road, Sandy, Utah. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.

  • Sheri & Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet mama. I will always remember her generous and loving smile and the time she hauled me off to the hospital after I broke my ankle at our school gymnastics meet. 💙
I knew in that moment she was an angel. ❤
Much love and condolences to you and your family

  • We so loved Diane and Jim. We will treasure forever our last trip just a few years ago to Gatlinburg, TN. with our good friends. As our neighbors for 18 years, we shall also treasure the memories of our kids friendships . We will miss Jim and Diane, but know they are at peace having been great examples to their family and all of us.
