  • Julie, I am so sorry for your loss. He was way too young. I’ve thought of you often over the years and I’m glad the last 25 were filled with such love. What you wrote was beautiful. Hope your heart heals well.

  • Mark Smith was the nicest and most caring individual I believe I ever met. He always seemed to care more about me than anything else that was going on at that time.
Julie, in your tribute you said that “Mark was a man of integrity, honest and true to his word, he worked hard, and loved everyone for who they were.” I couldn’t agree more.
God bless you all and May Mark rest in eternal peace.

  • Mark –

Through the years you have honored those in your care by having the best municipal cemetery staff !
Thank you for allowing us access to your office and your staff with I’m sure, seemingly endless annoyances and questions. You always were gracious and welcoming.
At the end of the day, arrangements were always made to the benefit of all parties involved. You were a remarkable sexton and we always felt welcome in the lovely grounds of your “charge” of which your pride was evident.
On behalf of MIAP-Utah, the SLCPD Memorial Day weekend workers, and my personal family, thank you!
Thank you to your family for sharing Mark in a small way – his positive impact was always appreciated and warmly felt.

  • Mark was one of a kind. From the moment I started at the City, he made me feel so welcomed and supported. He laughed at my jokes and I was always jealous of his turquoise rings. He had the best laugh and loved with the biggest heart. Thinking of you, Julie.
