Alice Annette Spencer

December 4, 1955•October 7, 2026

Annette Spencer was born on December 4, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised there by her parents, Joseph and Lillis Spencer. A loving grandmother, mother, daughter, and sister, she passed away at Intermountain Medical Center on October 7, 2026, surrounded by family.

Annette dedicated much of her life to caring for and helping others. While earning her degree in nursing, she worked as a surgical technician and eventually became a highly skilled nurse working in surgery and intensive care.
Annette served at a number of hospitals and care centers, including Holy Cross Hospital, Primary Children's, LDS Hospital, St. Mark's Hospital, University of Utah Hospital, and Intermountain Medical Center.
She worked as a nurse in Shock/Trauma before eventually moving into advanced cardiac care nursing, first in the Critical Care ICU, and then later in the Thoracic ICU. She also spent time as a Life Flight nurse helping to triage and treat emergency patients, and later became certified as a member of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump team, a highly specialized nursing group trained to treat critically ill heart patients. Annette also mentored and led training classes for other nurses, and was an empathetic, compassionate health care professional who had an impact on countless lives.

One of the things that brought the most joy to Annette was spending time with her family. Getting together for holidays and special occasions was very important to her, and she often played a central role in bringing the family together. Annette kept a small but close circle of personal relationships which she nurtured and held precious, as she gave so much of herself and her compassion to others in her professional life.
Annette held a strong influence in our lives that will always be remembered and deeply missed.

Annette is survived by her two sons, Nolan Butcher (married to Tiffany Conger) and Ryan Butcher, granddaughter Charlotte Claire Butcher (Nolan), brother Ronald Spencer, and her nephews Zachary Spencer (Ronald) and Lucas Spencer (Ronald).
