Barbara Bult Little

Our beloved Barbara Bult Little passed peacefully in her home on Friday May 22nd surrounded by her dear family. Barbara and her husband Bob lived in their home in Salt Lake City for 68 years where they raised their two boys and made many friendships. Barbara was born on November 8th, 1932, in Salt Lake City to her parents Frank and Ardella Bult. She had an older sister Joanie, who was a close lifelong friend. Barbara had a special relationship with her parents and was anxious to be reunited with them.

Her earliest memories are of being outdoors and climbing trees. From the beginning, Barbara was outgoing and loved to be around people. Growing up Barbara had many friends. She graduated from West High School and spent some time at LDS Business College. Her first job out of High School was at Dick’s Malt Shoppe, where as a waitress serving ice cream a mutual friend introduced Barbara to a newly returned sailor named Robert Little. Barbara thought he was handsome and drove a nice car. The two fell in love and married on October 12th, 1950.

They spent their first years of marriage living in Richfield. Bob loved his “Barbie” and the two created a loving home together. Barbara remembers their newlywed friends including many dinner parties and nights spent playing volleyball. Their first son, Michael was born, and the pair moved to be closer to family, first living with Barbara’s parents and then to their home in Salt Lake City. Their second son, Frank, came a few years later. Barbara and Bob loved their two boys deeply. They loved watching them grow and play sports. Barbara loved being a mother, celebrating birthdays and making home a special place to be.

After the boys were born, Barbara got a job sampling dairy products at local grocery stores. What began as a small job to get out of the house transformed into a passionate occupation for her. Over the years Barbara began to increase product sales for Meadow Gold and became a celebrated sales manager. Barbara knew every grocery manager and customer by name and would do demonstrations at local schools. She became a spokesperson for Meadow Gold, appearing on T.V. and print ads, and even became the first female to be awarded to the Presidents Honor Club of Beatrice Foods.

Barbara was an amazing cook and learned her skills from her talented mother. She was frequently featured on the Gabby Gourmet radio program, where she shared her cooking tips. Her specialties were pies and potato salad. Barbara was also amazing at making and decorating cakes, of which her grandchildren would receive a special cake just for them on their birthdays.

Barbara loved to ski especially in Park City – usually spending more time in the lodge than on the slopes. Bob and Barbara bought a second home in St. George and spent numerous winters there where they loved to golf, watch shows, and play cards and talk. They also spent time travelling the state with their local Good Sam’s group in their RV and in later years many cruises throughout the world. Barbara loved to host family, friends and especially grand and great-grand kids, who have fond memories of chips and Darcy’s dip in grandma’s hot tub, cooking classes, and game nights.

Barbara’s beautiful smile would light up a room. She was kind, loving, and inviting. All who met her, loved her. She was full of life.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her beloved Bobbie. She is survived by her sons Michael (Jan) and Frank (Lynnie), her 6 grandchildren: Nate (Amy), Matt (Ashlie), Daniel, Nichole (Jared), Jonathon, and Sarah. In addition to her 12 great- grandchildren.

We want to express our special love to her card playing group, her bingo partner, her cooking students, her grandkids who were close to her and her dedicated, loving sons, who were her pride and joy and to all who called and took care of her daily. She was a special person, and she will be greatly missed. An extra special shout out to butter, Crisco, and mayo for making all of Grandma’s food extra delicious over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 5th at 2:00pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South Salt Lake City, Ut with a viewing 1 hour prior.
