Berna Fisher Ford was born on May 11, 1957, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Justine and Albert Fisher.
Her greatest calling was serving the Lord. She devoted her life to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believing that every person she met deserved to hear about God's love. Whether through her words, her actions, or her unwavering compassion, Berna faithfully sought to lead others to Christ.
Music was one of her greatest joys. She used her gift to glorify God and encourage others through gospel music. Singing was not simply something she enjoyed; it was one of the ways she worshipped and ministered to those around her.
Berna was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Natchez, Mississippi, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She loved her church family and never missed an opportunity to invite others to worship alongside her.
She married Leonard Ford, Jr., and together they were blessed with three children: the late Lennie Latrice Ford, Cristi Justine Mary Ford Brazão (Antonio), and Jarrod "Jay" Elijah Ford (Asia). Berna loved her children deeply and taught them to trust God and seek comfort in the atonement of Jesus Christ.
Later, Berna moved to Utah, where she found another loving church family at Second Baptist Church. There she continued to worship, serve, and share the love of Christ with those around her.
Throughout her life, Berna faced health challenges with an unwavering hope in God's promises. Now, she is a new creature in Christ, singing and dancing his praises!
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Berna leaves to continue her legacy of faith her beloved children, her cherished grandchildren, Yazmeen, Zora, Kalani, and Lucas "Lukie;” along with many loving relatives, dear friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
She joins her parents, sister, Alberta, many loved ones, and a Heavenly Choir as we all await the return of Jesus Christ and a joyful reunion!
Her songs of faith will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
