July 20, 1937•June 30, 2026
Carolyn Lorraine Hooper Robison, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, passed peacefully at her home in Draper, Utah, on Tuesday evening, June 30, 2026, with her children and grandchildren by her side.
Born in Salt Lake City to Gene (Eugene) and Helen Hooper, Carolyn was the oldest of three children and grew up with deep pride in her Mormon pioneer heritage. She graduated from South High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Utah in 1959. While singing in the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir, she met Richard W. "Dick" Robison. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1959.
Early in their marriage, the couple lived in Indiana while Richard pursued advanced music studies; Carolyn worked as secretary to the Dean of the School of Music. In 1961 they moved to Rexburg, Idaho, where Richard joined the music faculty at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho). An accomplished vocalist in her own right, Carolyn performed the lead role of Eliza Doolittle in a campus production of My Fair Lady. She taught freshman English part-time at the college and later shared her love of music with a generation of young people, teaching general music and choir in elementary and middle schools from 1981 to 1999.
Carolyn and Richard were blessed with eight children, four sons and four daughters, whom they raised in Rexburg with love, faith, and music at the center of their home. Steady and capable, Carolyn created a nurturing, well-ordered household through the demands of a growing family, her husband's active musical career, and dedicated church service. In 2003, she and Richard moved to Draper to be closer to family.
Carolyn's life was a quiet but powerful witness of true discipleship. She did not merely believe the gospel; she lived it daily, through covenant devotion, selfless service, and steady faithfulness in every calling. Whether teaching her children, supporting her husband's musical ministry, serving in Relief Society and Young Women presidencies, or serving in temples and on full-time missions in Nauvoo and on Temple Square, she exemplified the Savior's command to love God and neighbor with her whole heart.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard William Robison; her daughter, Jeannette Elizabeth Spencer; her son-in-law, Michael Christopherson; her grandson, Tanner Christopherson; her parents, Gene and Helen Hooper; and her brother, Spencer Scott Hooper.
She is survived by her children: Richard Robison, Cynthia Christopherson, Stephanie Johnsen (Steve), Leslie Johnson (Clint), Russell Robison, Rob Robison (Jennie), and Ryan Robison (Meredeth); her son-in-law, Mark Spencer; her brother, Eugene Hooper (Joeleen); 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, at 12:00 PM at the Riverview Stake Center, 12101 South 700 West, Draper, UT, 84020, with a viewing prior from 10:00-11:30 AM. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed at the following link: Zoom Link
