Christopher Jack Buchanan

Chris Jack Buchanan passed away at home on July 25, 2026. Chris was born to Danne L. Buchanan and Deborah K. Taylor in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 10, 1978.

Chris had a remarkable ability to light up every room he entered with his quick wit, infectious personality, and perfectly timed sense of humor. Chris was a man of depth, curiosity, and creativity always encouraging others to explore & try new things. A trained sommelier, he approached wine and life with a thoughtful, discerning eye. He was a true food connoisseur, finding joy in flavors, textures, and the stories behind every meal. He was an artist in every sense: in the way he saw the world, in the way he expressed himself, and in the way he connected with others. His mind was philosophical, always reaching for meaning, always asking bigger questions, always searching for understanding. Chris was deeply passionate about music, travel, and sports, and his enthusiasm for sharing these interests was truly contagious. He was also the person everyone turned to for insight, guidance, and perspective, thanks to his remarkable depth of knowledge across a wide range of topics. He shared a special bond with his dog, Arf, who was his constant companion and source of comfort. Above all, Chris was defined by the way he loved. His children were the center of his world, and his devotion to them was unwavering. He carried their joys and their struggles with him every day, holding them close in ways seen and unseen. Chris loved fiercely, thoughtfully, and without hesitation and was always thinking of others before himself. His absence leaves a profound and irreplaceable void, and he will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.

Those who loved Chris know that no words can fully capture the depth of who he was or the weight of losing him. His humor and playful spirit brought a unique energy to every gathering and made his presence impossible to forget. His life was rich, complicated, thoughtful, and his absence will be carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his father Dan; his mother Debi; his sisters Brittanie, Cassie, and Katie; and his children Sage, Zooey, Lainey, Jax, and Elliot. He is reunited with his grandmothers Gaylene and Judy.

A Celebration of Life (Open House) will be Saturday, August 29th.
