January 11, 1940•October 3, 2026

Our beloved Frida Stern Franco passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, after a beautiful life filled with love, faith, family, and service.

Frida was born in Argentina on January 11, 1940, to Samuel Stern and Sofia Boldman, an Ashkenazi Jewish family with European roots. In 1986, she moved with her family to Utah, where they made their home.

One of the great loves of Frida’s life was her husband, Carlos Franco. They met nearly 70 years ago at a church dance, beginning an extraordinary love story that would last a lifetime. They were sweethearts, best friends, and constant companions who built a beautiful family and shared nearly seven decades of marriage. Theirs was a rare and enduring love.

From an early age, Frida had a remarkable ability to love people. She didn’t simply brighten a room—she lit it up. Warm, funny, and genuinely interested in others, she made people feel welcome wherever she went. Strangers quickly became friends, and friends became family.

Her life was one of service. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frida served for many years in the Primary, where she loved and taught children. She also volunteered in hospitals and care homes, giving her time to children and elderly patients, including those living with dementia. She and Carlos served their mission in a prison, bringing compassion and hope to those they served.

Frida also knew how to enjoy life. She loved tango, playing the piano, music, musicals, fairies, tea parties, beautiful jewelry, and fancy scarves. She loved to sing and dance and had a wonderful sense of fun and appreciation for anything that brought a little more beauty into the world.

Frida had a lifelong appreciation for culture, language, and tradition. She spoke five languages! Her ability to communicate across cultures was one of the many ways she connected so naturally with people.

Above all else, Frida loved her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Carlos; her six children: Fabiana, Flavio (Mariela), Paola, Maximiliano (Kelly), Romina, and Patrick (Charli); her twenty grandchildren: Cristian, Chelsea, Sofia, Cailey, Antonella, Marcela, Alexandra, Angelique, Catalina, Caden, Mariano, Nicolas, Gabriel, Annabella, Lucas, Jocelyn, Stella, Pressli, and Kamden; and her nine great-grandchildren: Luca, Krew, Daphne, Boston, Scarlett, Beckett, Emerson, Lachlan, and Dean.

Frida leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and kindness.

Her life was a gift. Her love was her legacy. And she will forever be loved by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
