Gary Lynn Mast

Gary Lynn Mast - Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather - passed away suddenly August 20, 2026, at the age of 75 due to a tragic fall in his home.

Gary was born on January 29, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Earl Mast and Sylvia Mast Parker. He graduated from Granite High school in 1969. Gary was a hardworking and talented man who owned Western Rental and Sales, before retiring in 1998.

Gary had a passion for woodworking and spent countless hours creating, building, and completing projects for his family and friends. There was something special about seeing Gary take an idea and turn it into something real with his own hands. His love of woodworking and painting were just some of the many ways he showed his creativity, patience, and love for the people around him.

He also enjoyed golfing, spending the winters in Arizona, and spending time with the people he loved. Gary married his high school sweetheart Josephine Cecala on June 7, 1969. Together they built a life filled with family, love, hard work, and countless memories.

Gary was a proud father to Corey (Stacey) and Staci (Joey), a grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren. He was also a brother to three brothers and two sisters.

To his family, Gary was more than a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a source of strength, stability, and comfort. He was the kind of person his family could count on. His love was often shown through the things he did- building, fixing, helping, providing, and simply being there.

Gary will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for how he carried himself. He was known for his strength, structure, and stability. He loved his family, but above all, he loved his dogs. His family and dogs meant everything to him, and the love he gave them will continue to live on through every generation that follows.

Gary was funny, stubborn, and strong-willed- qualities that made him uniquely Gary. He had his own way of doing things and wasn’t easily talked out of it. His family will remember his humor, his personality, and all of the little things that made him who he was.

Although his passing was sudden and heartbreaking, Gary leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, and pieces of himself in the people he loved and the things he created. His hands may no longer be here to build, fix, and create, but the life he built for his family will remain.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. His memory will be carried forward in the stories we tell, the memories we share, and the love he gave so freely.

Gary, you were deeply loved, and you will be greatly missed.
