Grant B. Behrmann, 88, died May 31 in St. George, Utah. He was born January 2, 1938, in Cherrydale, Virginia, to parents Claude W. Behrmann and Margaret Blackham Behrmann.
Grant attended some of his elementary school years in Washington, D.C., before moving to Utah. He graduated from West High School in 1956. On a blind date he met and fell in love with Gladlyn Ellis. They were married August 5, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Grant soon began working for a credit union for Safeway grocery stores employees. He rose through the ranks to become the President and Manager of the Safeway Credit Union. When Safeway stores closed in Utah he led the transition to create Credit Union One to continue serving former Safeway employees and eventually many others. He was active in promoting Credit Union interests through leadership positions in the Utah Credit Union League and many other Utah and national entities.
He is survived by his sons and their spouses Russell and DeAnn Behrmann and Kenneth and Camette Behrmann, and daughter Patti Behrmann. He had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Grant was preceded in death by his wife Gladlyn, his parents, brothers Rue and Earl and his son David Behrmann.
The family wishes to thank his neighbors, ward family and friends that provided love, nursing assistance and support in the Stonebridge neighborhood of St. George for over two years after his wife and caretaker Gladlyn passed away.
