July 29, 1938•October 21, 2026

Barr was a gentle soul with a warm heart full of curiosity and generosity. He lived his life in honor. His honor was to faith, family, and country. His decisions guided him in fulfilling his commitments to these priorities.

Barr had an unshakable faith and knowledge in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He served an LDS mission to the Southern States, including Florida and Georgia. He served in the Idaho Army National Guard for 12 years. He was married to Rowena Davidson Ballif for 63 years, having been sealed in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on March 1, 1963.

His interests were electronics, radio, and sound. He was a hard worker who worked without complaining. He worked in many occupations as his family grew. He found great success and passion in restaurant management, including Chuck-A-Rama and International King's Table. This gave him opportunities to share the gospel with his family in Idaho, Utah, Oregon, and Texas. He later worked at Creasey Catering and Health South Rehab.

In retirement, Barr enjoyed serving in the LDS Draper Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Rowena; his sons, James, David (Jaque), Anthony, Robert (Aimee), and Nathan; and his daughter, Alecia.

He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Elena Brockbank (Daniel), Arianna Blackwell-Sapp (Jordan), Acacia Ballif (Connor Hansen), Jessica Crosby (Bryce), Logen Ballif (Starrah), Sawyer Ballif, Gavin Ballif, Grace Ballif, Sierra Ballif, Justin Humbert, and Sarah Humbert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Maurice Ballif and Madge Heppler Peterson Ballif; his brother, H. Maurice; his sister, Margo; and his sons, Howard Paul and Mark.

He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Audrie Brockbank, Sloan Brockbank, Tristen Brockbank, Jagger Ballif, and Charlie Crosby.

The family wants to thank Dignity Hospice of Salt Lake for the compassionate care and respect they showed.
