Joyce Alice Maycock Wagstaff Griffin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88.
Born on March 20, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Joyce was the daughter of George Edward Maycock Jr. and Dora Agnes Crockett. On August 9,1958, she married Walter Ralph “Bill” Wagstaff, and together they shared 38 wonderful years before his passing on May 3, 1996. They were blessed with four children who were the center of Joyce’s life. On July 1, 1999, she found love again and married Clem Hunter Griffin, with whom she shared her later years.
Joyce devoted her life to her family as a loving and dedicated stay-at-home mother. Her home was a place of warmth, care, and welcome for all who visited. She had a natural gift for connecting with people and cherished every conversation and friendship.
A passionate genealogist, Joyce dedicated countless hours to preserving her family’s history and helping others discover theirs. Her meticulous research and devotion created a legacy that will bless generations to come. She found deep joy in this work, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with many of the ancestors she lovingly honored.
She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl, Lori (Dal) Liston, and Janet (Craig) Hurd; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph “Bill” Wagstaff and Clem Griffin, son Brad Wagstaff, granddaughter Michelle Geiermann, grandson Bradley Geiermann, her parents, a sister, and a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 5th at 1:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may visit with family prior to service from 11:30-12:30.
Interment will follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, Salt Lake City, UT.
