Marilyn Thomas, 89, passed away in South Jordan, Utah on August 5, 2026, after a brief illness. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in Murray, Utah on January 12, 1937 to John James and Thelma Amelia Proctor Hardman. She grew up in the Fort Union area of Salt Lake County. She attended Jordan High School. She married Robert W. Thomas in Elko, Nevada, and made her home in Sandy, Utah, living in the same home for many years. She had three children, Richelle Seawright (Mike), Kurt Thomas (Stephanie) and Brad Thomas (Marites).
She loved her children and six grandchildren. They were so special to her and she loved each one of them deeply. She was very supportive in attending sporting events, dance recitals, choir concerts, birthday parties, anything her grandchildren were involved in, she was there. She loved to attend the University of Utah basketball games with Bob, and loved watching her Utes on the football field. She loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers. After Bob passed away she loved traveling with her family. She took her entire family on a cruise to Hawaii and shared so many memories with them. She also got to travel to Europe and see some of the places Bob had talked about. It was a highlight of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents, siblings, Keith, LaMar, Jackie, and Marvin.
She is survived by her children Richelle, Kurt and Brad, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, her sister Joan Andreason.
There will be a graveside service to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 am. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, (10600 South) Sandy, Utah.
