Quincey’s grand entrance into this life was anything but conventional. She was born quickly, dramatically and unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, August 28th, 2013. Her beautiful existence here was cut tragically short on October 1st, 2026.
Our life has been charmed from the moment Quincey was born. She didn’t cry, and we were all so worried - but she wasn’t in distress. She was just happy and content to be here with us. She has always been insanely tough and brave, has always been incredibly positive, and has always done things her own way. She is love and joy personified.
Quincey grew from the happiest baby to the most fierce and affectionate toddler, clever and funny beyond her years before she could even walk and talk. Her personality has always been huge, quirky, loving, mischievous, exuberant and silly. Her Quincey-isms are legendary, her hugs are tight and her laughter is loud and genuine.
Q’s interests are varied and intense. When she loves something (and she loves EVERYTHING), she’s a FAN and goes all in. She is an encyclopedia of Greek mythology and legends, especially when it comes to the Odyssey, and she knows the backstory of every character in each of the many animes she loves. She is a master of random Disney trivia, and she knows every word to every song in every Disney classic, as well as Hamilton and Epic the Musical. She loves all things Japanese and Korean, from anime and art to food and music. She loves sushi and boba, K-Pop, Korean barbecue and konjac jelly.
Quincey is intensely creative. She loves to draw, sew, and make any and every imaginable craft. Not knowing how to do something is never a barrier for her - when something sparks her interest, she WILL figure out how to turn an idea in her head into reality in her hands. From perfect, semi-translucent roses crafted from hot glue, to a handbag made from an old minky blanket, her creativity and determination, her ability to make beautiful things out of scraps and every day objects (as well as the endless stream of craft kits she requests) never fails to astound us.
Quincey has tried many activities over the years, from soccer and dance to cheer and gymnastics. She loves tumbling and hiking and climbing, swimming and boating and riding waverunners. She’s a free spirit and never stuck with one thing for very long, until she found piano. Q is a music lover and a gifted pianist who was just beginning to bloom.
Quincey adores animals of all kinds, often visiting the local shelter to give love to the pets awaiting adoption, and often begging us to adopt them all. She loves visiting her aunts in Idaho, riding horses and loving on all of their animals. She adores her dog, Falkor, and lets him sleep in her bed almost every night. She loves long luxurious baths and spa nights at home, skin care, makeup, fashion and all things girly. She loves putting on her favorite PJs (which she calls her “home uniform”) and snuggling up to read or watch movies of every genre together. She loves Starbucks and cookies and snack runs, making meringue and coffee jelly, going to the movies and building legos.
Quincey loves traditions and holidays and celebrating her birthday for at least a full month. She loves randomly dressing up (as Hamilton, Spiderman or anime characters), telling stories and being silly, family game nights and connection. She can beat almost anyone in chess, and loves to teach people how to play. She loves to sketch and has an amazing talent for drawing, especially anime characters. She is excited about everything, grateful for everything, and has made life so much fun for those of us lucky enough to experience her magic and her joy.
Q loves collecting anything traditionally collectible, and many things you wouldn’t consider to be collectible as well. From stuffies and books, crystals and rocks and figurines, coins and cards and stickers, to cool packaging, menu cards and unique ads. She turned an entire wall in her room into an amazing collage, mixing mediums and collected items with handmade crafts, drawings, paintings and photos to create the most unique and artistic statement wall imaginable.
Quincey loves taking trips (not vacations). She loves going to Disneyland and Disney World, planning detailed Disney bounds and mapping out park plans and snack ideas for every trip. She loves traveling to distant places, with plans to visit every country (she’s been to 21). No matter where we go, she brings the positive energy and excitement, motivating the rest of our family to make the most of our time together, celebrating each day we get to explore new places and experience new things.
Q is an undeniable empath. She hates conflict and is extremely eager to please. She accepts and loves everyone as they are, never judging and always celebrating diversity and differences. If she hears someone make a negative remark about themselves or anyone else, she doesn’t hesitate to correct them with love and humor, always advocating for others. She has poured endless energy into her family relationships, cultivating incredibly close bonds and special connections with each of her parents and siblings. She cheers the loudest for those she loves and for random strangers, compliments every single person she encounters, and feels the deepest whether she’s happy or sad.
Quincey is brave and tough beyond belief. She runs ahead, climbs the highest and dives the deepest. She jumps off cliffs and waterfalls, sings at the top of her lungs, and never hesitates to try new things, whether it be new tricks on the trampoline, new activities or new foods on our travels. We are constantly reminding her to be careful and look before she leaps, but her inhuman tolerance for physical pain only adds to her fearlessness.
Quincey is the most determined and stubborn kid you could imagine. She is brilliant, a quick learner and deep thinker, with the most unique perspective on topics varying from scientific to existential. She loves color and light and snacks and snuggles. She is absolutely hilarious, always saying and doing the goofiest and most unexpected things to keep us laughing. She is the magical connection that makes our family complete. She deserves the life she dreamed of, with trips to every country and every Disney park and every anime convention, a career in the arts, and swarms of friends who understand, love and celebrate her for the beautiful person she is. Q has always been too good for this world, but she loves it and celebrates every aspect of life anyway.
Quincey will be profoundly and unbearably missed by her parents, Dani and Ben Peek; her siblings, Rylee, Kambrie and Finn; her grandparents, Wendy and James Dupaix, and Beverly and Blaine Peek; her bonus grandma, Annette Atwood; her cousin and best friend, Jessyca Wheatley; her bonus sister, Miyuu Nomoto; her beloved dog, Falkor, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Though her absence in our lives here and now is intolerable and excruciating, we know that energy cannot cease to exist. Quincey’s energy is pure and infinite, and we hope she is waiting for us in a place filled with art and craft supplies, beautiful landscapes, rainbows and waterfalls and sunsets, butterflies and kittens and friendly snakes, along with endless love from all those who went before her. We hope she can feel the immense and infinite love we continue to pour into her, our precious and forever baby girl.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made via Venmo @Dani-Peek to assist with expenses, and to help establish a memorial fund in Quincey’s honor.
Quincey’s viewing will be on Thursday, October 15th, from 11-1:00pm, at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy. Her celebration of life will be on Friday, October 16th, from 11:30-1:30pm, at the Chateau.
All are welcome, as we want our supernova to feel so much love.
We love you Buzz Lightyear Quincey Loo - to infinity, and beyond.
