Ronald Lee Hyde, 88, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to all, passed away peacefully at his home in West Jordan, Utah, on June 18, 2026.

Ron was born on February 7, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John “Bill” and Helen Hyde. He was the second to youngest of four children.

Ron faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission. Following his mission, he married his sweetheart, Beverly Lois Bolton, on September 2, 1960. Together they built a loving home and raised six children: David, Bryan, Steve, Ken, Howard, and Diane. Beverly preceded him in death on April 8, 2019.

Known by many simply as Ron, he was a hardworking and dependable man who loved his family deeply. He took great pride in his work as a sheet metal fabricator, specializing in commercial metal fabrication. Throughout his career, he contributed to major projects for companies such as Intel, as well as notable sites including the Portland International Airport, the Portland Oregon Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—where he helped build the baptismal font—the historic Hotel Utah, where he assisted in installing the original kitchen, and many other significant projects. Ron was known as the “fix-it” guy—there wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair—and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Ron had a lifelong passion for racing, from watching NASCAR to go-karting and cheering on his children when they were young. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and later found joy in golfing with family and friends. He loved working on clocks, building and creating model train layouts, and was a devoted Oregon Ducks fan. Ron also had a creative side—he made beads that Beverly turned into beautiful pieces of jewelry that they sold at the Portland Saturday Market. He enjoyed watching just about anything with a motor or a ball—unless it was soccer.

He is survived by his children: David (Cyndi) of Albany, Oregon; Bryan (Laurie) of Portland, Oregon; Steve (Tessie) of Lihue, Hawaii; Ken of Penrose, North Carolina; and Diane of West Jordan, Utah; as well as his sister, Nola Gittens of Smithfield, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly; his parents; his sister, Shirley; his brother, Jim; and his son, Howard.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the love he showed to his family.
