Ruby Ellen Graham Ainsworth

Ruby Ellen Graham Ainsworth, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, 78, of Eagle, Idaho passed away August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Ruby was born on September 6, 1947, in Sundance, Wyoming, to Lester Earl Graham and Lois Palmer Graham. She spent her childhood in Beryl, Utah, later living in West Jordan and Sandy, Utah, before making her home in Eagle, Idaho, in 2016. She attended Jordan High School in Sandy.

One of Ruby's greatest joys began in September 1963 when she met the love of her life, James "Jim" Ainsworth, through his sister Karen, Ruby's best friend. Shortly after they met, Jim left to serve in the United States Army. The two faithfully wrote letters to one another every day until he returned home that December. Their love only grew stronger, and they were married on July 2, 1964, in Sandy, Utah. This July, they celebrated 62 wonderful years together, a testament to a lifetime of love, devotion, and partnership.

Ruby built a successful career in retail management. She worked her way up to Operations Manager at Kmart before continuing her career at Smith's Food & Drug, where she worked in various departments and eventually retired as a Scanning Coordinator.

Ruby found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping, decorating, and spending time outdoors. For nearly twenty summers they enjoyed weekly fishing trips to Strawberry Reservoir with her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Joe. In her later years, she discovered a passion for coloring and completed hundreds of coloring books, finding joy and peace in every page.

Above all else, Ruby treasured her family. Her four children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren were the center of her world and her greatest source of pride and happiness.

Anyone fortunate enough to meet Ruby quickly became her friend. She truly never met a stranger. Within minutes of meeting someone, she would complement them—whether it was their hair, shoes, or nails—and make them feel genuinely seen and appreciated. Her kindness was effortless, her warmth contagious, and her ability to make others feel loved was one of her greatest gifts. In her final days, countless tributes poured in from family and friends, all sharing stories of the love, encouragement, and compassion Ruby had shown throughout her life. To many, she was simply "Aunt Ruby," and she was deeply loved.

Ruby is survived by her devoted husband, James “Jim” Ainsworth; her children, Shelly (Marty) Sisam, Suzie (Brett) Markowski, Jayson (Carrie) Ainsworth, and Lezlee (Joe) Greatorex; her grandchildren, Taylor (Paige), Hayden (Jaysa), Austin (Hope), Riley (Charlotte), Madison (Jesse), Samantha (Riley), Kennedy, and Katelynn; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Mackinnon, Paisley, Luke, Remi, and Bryxton. She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Casper and Trudy Watson and Judy Graham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lois Graham; her brother, Vern Graham; and her parents-in-law, Ervin and Edna Ainsworth.

A viewing will be held 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, August 14, 2026, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 15,2026 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah with a public viewing beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Ruby's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable way of making every person she met feel important, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
