Sheryl Thurman, beloved sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by love.

Born September 26, 1952, Sheryl was the daughter of Ruth and Elmo Thurman, sister to John (Lyn) Thurman, Jerry (Melinda) Thurman, Linda Osborne, and Lori (Brian) Creighton. With many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who lovingly called her Tia.

Sheryl spent her career as a middle school Spanish teacher, sharing her love of language, travel, and culture with generations of students.

Giving was the way Sheryl expressed her love. She delighted in finding things for the people she cared about and rarely passed up an opportunity to give a thoughtful gift. She loved making others happy, and her generosity was felt in countless little ways.

Sheryl had a particularly tender heart for dogs. They brought her immense joy throughout her life, and in her final days she was able to cuddle and think about her two beloved dachshunds, Twilight and Aurora. It was a fitting final comfort for someone who gave and received so much love from her furry companions.

Sheryl will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, her devotion to her dogs, and the many small acts of kindness through which she showed people they were loved. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to call her “Tia.”

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:00 am, at the Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Utah.
