Sue Carol Kinkead (née Plummer), affectionately known by her family as Grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Herriman, Utah, at the age of 89.
Sue was born in Kentucky, grew up in Virginia, raised herfamily in Missouri, and retired to Utah. A lifelong learner, she had a voracious appetite for reading. Those who knew her best described her as caring and independent, qualities she inheritedfrom her mother. She had careers in retail sales and OSHA training sales before becoming head of the OSHA Training Department at Zee Medical of St. Louis.
Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and cooking from scratch. Her beautiful flowers brought such delight to the neighborhood that the HOA made a special exception, allowing her to tend her yard in her own way, much to the joy of her neighbors.
Her grandchildren were her passion. For the better part of a quarter century, she devoted every Friday night and Saturday to them, filling their time together with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She cherished her Mormon faith, possesseda strong work ethic, and was always available to talk—or simply to listen.
Two phrases she often said were “Change is good” and “I love you more.” She also had a wonderful eye for interior design and took great pride in creating a home that was beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming—a place where there was always room for the people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Plummer; her father Noel; her siblings, Jean, Pat, and Joe; and her ex-husband,Fred, whom she cared for during the final years of his life. She is survived by her twin sister, Ann Dybalski; her four children, Lydia Kinkead (Charles Weiss), John Kinkead, Tara Kinkead, and Jana (Lance) Rich; her 11 grandchildren, Dannon, Allie, Dillon, Wesley, Gabby, Isaiah, Bella, Kaelan, Piper, Julian, and Lily; and her great-granddaughter, Petal.
A celebration of life will be held at Larkin Mortuary Riverton location on Monday Nov, 2nd from 6PM-9PM
