June 11, 1960•May 25, 2026
Susan Brown Pratt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the age of 65.
Susan was born on June 11, 1960, to Joan and Douglas Brown. She lived a life marked by passion, honesty, laughter, and a deep love for the people around her.
Susan spent much of her life doing work that she truly loved as a teacher at North Summit Middle School. She cared deeply about her students and took great pride in helping young people learn, grow, and succeed. Teaching was more than a profession to her, it was her passion, and the lives she touched will continue to reflect her influence for years to come.
Outside the classroom, Susan loved traveling with family and friends, camping in the mountains, and spending time outdoors. She also had a lifelong love of dance. As a student at Jordan High School, she was a member of the Charlonians dance club, and later taught ballroom and other styles of dance as an instructor. She never missed an opportunity to dance and never worried about who might be watching.
More than anything, Susan loved her family. She was a devoted and caring mother to her daughters, Atley and Sierra, and gave them a childhood filled with love, adventure, and special memories. In recent years, one of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother. She adored her grandson, Wesley, and treasured every moment she spent with him.
Susan was known for her quick wit, infectious laugh, and spirited personality. She was opinionated, passionate, and unapologetically authentic. You always knew where you stood with Susan. She valued honesty and could never tell a lie, even if she tried. She was a true spitfire whose strength, humor, and fierce love left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Atley Jo Hadden and Sierra Pratt Smith; her brothers, Mark Brown and Bryan Brown; her father, Douglas Brown; and her grandson, Wesley. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Brown.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. Susan’s family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in celebrating her memory.
