Verl Edward Fox

December 25, 1940•October 25, 2026

Verl Fox was born on December 25, 1940, in Utah to Edward and Emma Fox. He was eldest of three sons, with brothers Marvin and Steven.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960 and served with the 3rd Battalion. He graduated at the top of his class in aviation mechanics and selected duty in Iwo Jima, Japan.

On January 21, 1967, he married Judy Fox. Their marriage was marked by an abiding and lasting love that spanned 59 years. They had two children, Aaron Fox and Tammara Jackson. He is survived by three grandchildren: Grayson Fox, Nolan Fox, and Brandon Jackson.

Verl worked for many years as a Matco Tools distributor and owned and operated several businesses. Customers and neighbors knew him as friendly, fair, and honest. He regularly helped others in practical ways—changing tires, digging sprinkler lines, or assisting elderly neighbors. He cared deeply for his father- and mother-in-law throughout their lives and offered his home as a place of refuge for them in their final years.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and ice cream. He was an active member of the Utah Jeep Club and took part in hill climbs and obstacle courses.

Through his best friend Joe Thompson, Verl was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized. After Joe’s death, Verl took an active role in the life of Joe’s son, Jesse Thompson, and helped raise him alongside his own son, Aaron. He taught both young men the importance of faith, work, and service to others.

Verl is remembered by his family for a life of steady work, quiet helpfulness, and devotion to those closest to him.
