Alan Kay Allen

1937 ~ 2019

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Alan K. Allen passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Alan was born on January 11th, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Afton Atkinson and Orlando Allen.

He married his true love Shirley Hardman on May 30th, 1980. They were sealed in the temple on May 30th, 2007. They shared 39 wonderful years together.

Alan is survived by his wife Shirley, son Douglas Jackman, daughter Janet Jackman (Terry) Hilke, sister Donna, 3 daughters Margaret, Rayne, Patti and son Mark from a previous marriage. Preceded in death by his mother and father and younger brother Cliff.

Alan joined the United States Army in January 1955 where he served three years in Germany. He worked for IML Freight for 22 years and then went to work for Six States Distributors for 25 years from 1981 to 2006 where he had many good friends.

He loved bowling with his wife Shirley, reading books, watching Si-Fi movies and tinkering around in his garage. He loved his animals and took great joy in making others laugh, he was quick witted and had a very infectious laugh.

Alan was always opinionated, but forever loving, kind and thoughtful of others. He made many friends throughout his life and will be dearly missed by those who loved him.

Viewings will be held Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah and on Wednesday June 5th from 11:00 a.m. ‚ 12:00 p.m. with a Graveside service starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
