  • Casady Moreno, age 48 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 in Salt Lake City Utah. He was born on July 1st, 1970 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David M. Moreno and Kathleen Openshaw.

He married Danielle Chapman on May 29th, 1999. They were married in the beautiful state of Wyoming, reciting their vows along the Snake River with the Tetons as their backdrop.

Casady received his MSW from Walla Walla College in 1998 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker shortly after. He worked for the University of Utah Dialysis Center for ten years where he worked closely with dialysis patients and touched many lives and hearts. In 2004, he earned his MBA with an emphasis in Health Care Management. In 2010, he began working for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked in TeleMental Health. His years of hard work and dedication within TeleMental Health will never be forgotten. In 2017, he transferred to Genomic Medicine Service and as a valued member of their team, developed relationships with VA employees around the country to improve care for Veterans. He truly loved working with Veterans directly and being involved in the fascinating world of genetics. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends.

Casady had a passion for music. He loved his guitars and would play through the night. He was a poet and an artist who desired creativity. His laughter could fill a room and his presence made you feel loved. He was an excellent listener with a kind heart and soul. He loved talking to people regarding what they were passionate about and could spend hours engaged in conversation. Casady had a remarkable sense of humor and having fun was always a requirement. He was a wonderful father and loved his children, Isabella and Aiden. They taught him how to be a child again and inspired him to be the best he could be. Casady will continue to shine bright and watch over them as they continue through their own journey in life. Carpe Diem!

Casady is survived by his wife of 19 years, Danielle Moreno; their children, Isabella Moreno, age 16, and son, Aiden Moreno, age 13; his mother, Kathleen Openshaw; his father, David M.
