Russell Lamont Smith, 77, passed away April 8, 2020 in Murray, Utah. He was born May 2, 1942 in Salt Lake City to Oney Lamont and Winonah Walton Smith. He married Effie Maurine Smith in Salt Lake City.
Russell received both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering, minor in Computer Hardware Design. He worked at the University of Utah Upper Research Lab 1970-1974, Terra Tek 1974-1979, Evans and Sutherland 1981-1994, University of Utah 1994-1999, and Triumph Gear Systems until his retirement.
He served his country in the United States Army Reserve.
Survived by his Son Ryan Lamont Smith, Daughter Mara’D Anne Smith and Daughter in Law (Son’s Wife) Yuliya Gorbunova. Granddaughters Nina Leah Smith and Yana Effie Smith.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Effie Maurine Smith, Brother Brent Smith and his parents.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South). Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:45 Saturday prior at services at the mortuary.
