Alan Lynn Pohlman passed away peacefully on April 4, 2016, surrounded by his family after a long battle with polymyositis at the age of 70. Born March 3, 1946, in Salt Lake City to Bert and Barbara Jensen Pohlman. He graduated from South High School and the University of Utah. On June 11, 1971, he married his sweetheart, Sharon Sue Tunbridge, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Lynn was a hard worker and spent 35 years laying carpet before moving to Henderson, Nevada to manage the R.C. Willey flooring department. He enjoyed working with his hands and was known for his quality work. When he wasn't working, he loved vacationing with his family and was a loyal Jazz, BYU, and University of Utah fan. And, after his retirement, he enjoyed walking and riding his scooter on the trails around his house. He inspired his neighbors with his great attitude and he always welcomed visits from family and friends and the attendant excuse to visit the shows and buffets in Las Vegas.
Lynn made friends easily and was loved by all. He always had a smile on his face and he enjoyed being around people. Lynn was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and loved serving those around him. He served in the Southwest British Mission and as a bishopric member, and he particularly cherished his time as President of the Eastridge singles branch. He also had many talents and hobbies, including shooting marbles, ice skating, running, listening to classic rock music, and enjoying good food.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Pohlman; children Troy (Jill), Kristi (Eero) Ala, Brad, Spencer (Brooke), Russell, and Ryan; and 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Pohlman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held Friday evening, April 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the same location.
