  • Jerry Dellis Forbush gave up his polio impaired feet for a pair of dancing shoes and dos-i-doed his way into the loving arms of his parents, Dellis Reuben & Mary Esther Thomas Forbush on July 1, 2020.

He spent his final days at peace, enjoying the two things he loved the most: family and his favorite foods. He was able to combat childhood polio and lived a healthy life until leukemia let him know that enough was enough!

Born: March 4, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married the love of his life, Barbara Louise Butterfield, on September 14, 1962 in the Logan Utah temple.

He was a Jordan High School Beetdigger class of 1957 and graduated with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1965.

He served a Central States Mission (1959-1961) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served a Temple and Family History Mission with his wife (2011-2013).

He earned his doctorate degree and worked as a chiropractor for several years until he discovered his love for computers. He taught himself how to program and made a second career out of it. He had a good mind for figuring out how things work and solving puzzles. Jerry and Barbara spent many years square-dancing all over Utah, making many great memories with siblings and all the cousins on family vacations.

He was a patient man of very few words and simple needs. He enjoyed playing chess, going for drives, reading books, studying scriptures, visiting Costco and to the chagrin of Barbara, shopping online. Most of all, he loved being surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his children, Jeralyn (Mike) Coffey, Michele (Dave) Wright, Mike (Audrey) Forbush, Cindy (Scott) Christensen, Monica Ryan, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Karen (Doug) Larrabee and Connie (DJ) Simper.

Jerry's celebration of life service will be held Tuesday July 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah. There will be a viewing from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. before the service. All are welcome to attend the viewing and graveside. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we are limited to 50 in a room. Thank you for your understanding. In lieu of flowers, a giftcard to one of Jerry’s favorite restaurants would be enjoyed.

    Guestbook/Condolences

Barbara, I just heard about your husband's passing. I remember his insightful comments in Sunday School and him always being by your side. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray you will be filled with comfort and peace at this time and that you will be blessed with wonderful memories to sustain you.

Dear Barbara. It is with a heavy heart I write you today on the loss of your best friend and husband of many years. With him you had five wonderful children and all those grandchildren and great grandchildren. What joy you and Jerry had. And of course the memories of your life with him and your family will give you strength and love forever. Stay safe so we can meet again soon.

    All my sympathy,
    Jane
