  • On June 25, 2020 the good Lord decided it was time to take John A. Chacon, our father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend home with him. John A. Chacon was a proud Marine in the United States Marine Corp, but he was also a simple man that loved his guitars, the outdoors and simple things. He never needed much to be happy. He was content with what he had in life. He could really make jokes about almost anything in any situation, and easily make you laugh. Everyone that knew him knew that he was always willing to help out no matter what. He would give you a place to stay if you had nowhere to go. He would give you a dollar if you had no money, and he would never ask for it back or for anything else in return. I know he believed in God and Jesus and did his best to live the way he was supposed to live. He never tried to be anyone but himself and that is what everyone will remember. People will also remember him playing his guitar and usually singing one of a few songs he loved to play. I can hear him playing and singing them now. "Kansas City Here I come!" Instead of Kansas City though he made it to the ultimate destination. HEAVEN! He is no longer suffering or sad, but joyful, happy and renewed. I know that he is also looking out for the people he cared for. Until we meet again dad. Keep the place warm for all of us.

John A. Chacon is survived by his two sons: Shane A. Chacon and Vincent J. Chacon. He had 5 grandchildren: Isaiah A. Chacon, Daijah L. Chacon, Dominick Chacon, Jeremiah Chacon and Lilliana Chacon. He had 3 step grandchildren also: Giovanni Gray-Lopez, Fabiola Walker and Marco Walker. He has two brothers and one sister: Joseph Chacon, Richard Chacon and Suzie Chacon. He has his mother Mary Lou Chacon-Valdez and his late Father Joe Porfinio Chacon. He also had many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncle and friends. John A. Chacon loved all of his family and did everything he could to show that love. Please join us in celebrating John A. Chacon’s life.

A visitation will be held at Larkin Mortuary on July 8 at 260 East South Temple, in Salt Lake City from 9 to 10:30 AM. Services will follow at the Cathedral of the Madeleine at 331 East South Temple in Salt Lake City at 11 AM. Interment will take place immediately following services at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park at 17111 South Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale.

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and social distancing should be followed.

    John and I were Friends.
We had a common Friendship. We were both employees of Tooele Army Depot. John and I were good friends of Floriano {Fred} Valdez. We all were employees of TEAD. I went to visit Mrs. Valdez After Fred's Passing. She told me a story, She said that Fred used to say that God gave him two Daughters but, He also Gave him Two Son's. John Chacon and Frank Aragon. We both loved him and took care of him. He was old enough to be our Dad, but He was our best friend and he loved us like we were his his Son's and we loved him back.
