  • Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend, David John Bleyl, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving family on May 23, 2020.

Dave was born on January 17, 1942, in Salt Lake City, UT to Aaron Benjamin Bleyl Sr. and Hazel Eve Bleyl. He grew up with four siblings: Ben (Ruthann) Bleyl, Rick (Valarie) Bleyl, Kaaron (Mike) Muir, and Mindy (Ron) Harmon.

He was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and spent many years as a member and leader in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

After graduating from East High School, Dave attended the University of Utah, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending “The U”, he worked for his father’s flooring company, Bleyl & Sons, installing carpet with his brothers Ben & Rick.

On September 4, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart Mariely Warner and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four beautiful children: Kim (Mike) Anderson, Rob (Traci) Bleyl, Daaron (Nikki) Bleyl, and Allison (Trevor) Eining.

Following the birth of their first child, Kim, Dave got a job with Boeing, and the family moved to Seattle, Washington. After Rob was born, they moved to Santa Barbara, California so he could work with his father-in-law, Gordon Warner, who was starting a company called Warner Color Lab. He enjoyed working with Gordon, and his brothers-in-law Paul, Glen, and Kevin.

Daaron and Allison were both born in Santa Barbara, where Dave and Mariely raised their four children and resided for 25 years. Although they loved their years spent in Santa Barbara, they eventually moved back to Utah to be close to most of their grandchildren, and have been in Sandy for over 30 years.

Dave and his son Rob started a business together, specializing in Disaster Restoration and carpet cleaning. They had a great partnership together at Disaster Plus for 20 years, after which Dave retired.

Dave loved playing golf, especially with his brother Rick. He enjoyed many family vacations, camping at the beach and national parks, and Christmas. If something involved family, Dave loved doing it! He loved his family and was very proud of all of them. He will be greatly missed by each of them as well.

In 2015, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Despite its many challenges, his love and humor still shined through it all.

Special thanks for the loving care provided by Utah Valley Hospital and Aspire Home Health & Hospice.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild:
