  • Betty June Kirkwood Kline passed away on January 13, 2022, at her home at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living in Clearfield surrounded by family. Betty was born on March 26, 1939, in Bingham, Utah to William Arthur Kirkwood and Barbara Ann Baker. She grew up as a rough and tumble tomboy before girls were supposed to have that option. She married Arthur Kline on September 26, 1958. They had her three children Art, Steve, and Debbie before divorcing. Betty raised her three children as a single mom.

She had a culinary arts certification but made a career as an aide at Holy Cross Hospital. She used what she learned in culinary school to cook for her family and friends often. Most of her adult life was spent living in Salt Lake until her later years when she moved up north to live with her family. Betty was a kind person who loved those she called her own fiercely. She didn’t have much in the way of worldly things, but she would give anyone anything she had even if it was the shirt off her back. If you were part of her circle, she called you family and welcomed many into it. Betty loved playing cards, especially when she was winning, and watching cooking channels on television. She had a love/hate relationship with QVC and HSN.

She made friends easily and made many living at Station Square in Roy and at Chancellor Gardens. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living and those who cared for her in many capacities there as well as Symbii Hospice who saw her through her final days with a special thank you to Emily and Dani.

She is survived by her sons Arthur (Sherrie) Kline and Steven (Suki) Kline, her brother Larry (Dianne) Kirkwood, her sister Pat Jansen, 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 23 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.Preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Debbie, her grandson Chris, her brother Jack and his wife Stella, her sisters Sandra, Thelma, Linda, and Margie, and her brother-in-law Karl Jansen.

Services will be held on January 24, 2022, at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah with a viewing from 12 noon -1:00 pm. A dedication of the grave will follow.
