  • Think about the word “beauty.” What do you see? You likely see something remarkable, extraordinary, or awe-inspiring. For those of us that knew Kameo, we see her dazzling smile and we hear her infectious laugh. Kameo Schuyler was gorgeous, gracious, thoughtful, theatrical, poised, and patient; her loss is a sudden and sharp agony felt deeply and bitterly by all who knew her.

Kameo was so young and full of aspirations and drive. Her vim and vigor was contagious and you felt capable of anything you put your mind to after spending time with her! Anything she decided she was going to do; she conquered it and exceeded all expectations; Kameo did not do anything halfway. Her work ethic was unmatched, her gift giving was exceptional; you felt so loved and well-known when you got a gift from her!

Whether it was her friendships, her living space, her work environment, or her skills with hair and makeup, Kameo improved and beautified everything and everyone she interacted with. She was stunningly gorgeous both inside and out and she went the extra mile to make sure you knew you were special to her.

But there was one who was the most special: her husband Leland. Their love was like a classic romance movie! They were so in love and so good for each other. Leland made Kameo happier than we had ever seen her and she made him feel just as happy. We are so beyond grateful for Leland and for the happiness he brought to her life these last years.

Kameo, the void you leave in our lives is so incalculable —and it hurts so much— but we wouldn’t trade a minute of our time with you for anything in the world. Till we meet again, Kameo. We love you.

Kameo passed away on July 30, 2020. She was born November 1, 1993 to Yume Gregersen and Laurie Deis in West Valley City, UT. She married Leland Schuyler on July 6, 2019 in Stansbury Park, UT.

She is survived by her husband, Leland, mother Laurie (Mark) Deis, father Yume Gregersen (Natasha Koshkina), sisters Cierra Gregersen (Bradon Schmitt), Chloe Gregersen, puppy Cheddar. Preceded in death by her cat, Fuzzy Wuzzy, who passed at the age of 20 years.

We will be honoring Kameo on Thursday, August 6, 2020 and ask you to join us from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT. Please join us and wear a mask and practice social distancing. You may also share a memory or condolence for the family at larkincares.com.

I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of Kameo’s passing. She was the kindest person I have ever met. She was such an example to everyone. She showed us all how we all should treat everyone. She will missed by some many. I feel so blessed to have met her.

    - Hollie

I have no doubt that my parents were the first to greet her when she passed. She was very special to the both of them, as she was to all of us. I always enjoyed spending time with Kameo when I would do her hair. Little did I know at the time, that she would become a hair stylist herself (and a much better one!)

Steve ran in to Kameo and Leland in the pet aisle at Smith's shortly after their wedding. He was asking them advice on the best way to feed our cat. Im not sure if they were buying food for fuzzy wuzzy, or a different cat... but he remembers it being a funny encounter over cat food.

We are so heartbroken, and still in shock that she was taken from this world so soon. We wish we had the right words of comfort to help you through such a difficult time.

We feel very blessed to have had Kameo born in to this crazy family of ours. She will be incredibly missed, but we are comforted knowing that we have another angel looking out for all of us ... without a doubt the most stunning angel heaven has ever seen 💕

Leland and family - I hope you know how much we share in your sorrow at this most difficult time. Sunrises on the marsh this fall will help only to a small degree; however, please take heart in these and other small hints of light.

When I heard the news of Kameo’s passing, I could not believe it. I am still in the denial phase because this is not the natural order of things. It is too soon to say goodbye to her. When I joined the family I was introduced to Jen’s cousins. Our families were close because we did a lot of fun things together while the kids were growing up. We had fun exploring, hiking, camping, fishing, and just hanging out with Laurie, Yume, Kameo, Cierra and Chloe. Kameo helped us start our family by being one of the flower girls at our wedding.
The last time I saw Kameo was at the most recent family reunion at Christmas. I was happy to see her and meet her new husband Leland. They looked happy and in love. They also looked like they had just stopped in the middle of a home renovation project to come to the reunion with paint on their hands and arms. I asked what they were up to and they said they were painting their home. I offered to help but they politely declined because I think they wanted build their dreams together.
Sadly, their dreams need to be put on hold for a little while until they are reunited again.
Thank you Kameo for being a part of our lives.
She will be cherish in our hearts. Our thoughts go to Yume, Laurie, Mark, Cierra, Chloe, and their extended family.

Kameo brought so much light to my life in middle school when we became friends. She is so witty and always made me laugh. Kameo never brought anyone down, and always loved her friends unconditionally. She was and is a true example of a love and friendship.

I’ll always remember beautiful Kameo and the amazing times our families spent camping together as kids. I can picture her clearly—sitting in a dusty foldout chair around a campfire with all the adults, far away in some desert campsite. She was so mature and thoughtful even back then. When we saw her briefly this past December it was clear she had found so much happiness, and I’ll remember it forever. I hope peace and comfort will come to you from all the love that surrounds her and your family.
