Creighton Arthur King was born on December 20, 1972, in Provo, Utah to Raymond Arthur King and Gaye Wood King. He passed away doing what he loved, flying airplanes, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Creighton was greeted by his second-best friend, his dad, Raymond who passed just last year. They are no doubt working on their next plane together! He is watching over his eternal companion, wife of 28 years, Tonya Jean King and his two greatest blessings, daughters Allison Camilla (18) and Amelia Ruth (16). He is survived by his loving mother, Gaye Wood King, siblings Hawni (Dan) Reynolds, Brandon (Heather) King, Harmonie (Marc) Wheeler, Elizabeth (Alex) Reichert, and Rebecca (Brad) Marshall, 16 nieces and nephews as well as 8 great nieces and nephews that know him as “Great” Uncle Creighton. Growing up, Creighton was enamored by airplanes. He would ride his bike to the airport and wash planes to hitch rides. With his dad, he helped build their first airplane in the garage of their home. He often reflected on those first flights with great joy! Summers in OshKosh, Wisconsin became the norm as the family would attend EAA AirVenture each July. The family would also go to the Moab Jeep Safari and spent many Easter seasons rock crawling. These two activities would be lifelong adventures Creighton and his family would participate in. Always exploring and living life to the fullest, he was always up for an adventure, as long as Tonya and the girls were by his side. Creighton graduated from Skyline High School in 1991. He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Florida Tampa Mission from 1993-1995. It was near the end of his mission when he “met” his wife. A mission companion had a picture of Tonya. Creighton was smitten and asked for her address to write her a letter. Always going after what he wanted, he invited her to the airport upon his arrival home. The “girl by the garbage can” was there and on March 10, 1995 their love story began. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 16, 1995. Graduating from the University of Utah in 2003 with two bachelor degrees (Finance and Accounting), everyone knew that a desk job wasn’t going to suit Creighton for long. He was an entrepreneur by heart and knew he wanted to be his own boss. In January 2005, he began his relationship with Maxxis Tires. Becoming known as “Mr. Maxxis”, Creighton supported short course racing throughout the country for 10+ years in the Maxxis support truck. During this time, he was the star of “Behind the Scenes with Creighton King”, a YouTube video series that interviewed racers and celebrities. Creighton made many lifelong friends during these years. While working on his race plane Last Lap Player in 2013, Creighton needed a lined ziptie. He was tired of “crappy zipties” cutting through wires on his engine mount. After going to a few hardware stores and not finding one, he decided to create one! GripLockTies was born in 2014. The rubber lined, releasable ziptie has made a huge impact in many industries. As the owner and inventor, Creighton was most excited to finally produce GripLockTies in the good ol’ USA. On the day he passed, the final checks were being completed on the machines. You got them here! Well done! His “can-do” vision, expertise in many areas, likeable personality, sense of humor, willingness and patience to teach and mentor, and never-ending quest for fun was a magnet for the many friends he has throughout the world. He was bigger than life! Creighton was a true patriot. He loved the United States of America and the State of Utah. He served as a delegate for several years, taking this role very seriously. He was one of the earliest, and most ardent supporters of the original Utah Flag. He proudly flew both the American flag and State of Utah flag in front of his home. Creighton was never shy about sharing his testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of his greatest joys was teaching others. Either on his mission or through his Sunday School classes, he was eager to share his love of the gospel. Although sooner than we had hoped, Creighton looked forward to being welcomed home to the loving arms of the Savior and being told, “well done thou good and faithful servant”. His greatest joy was his family. He would share his love of his girls with anyone he met. Creighton never let an opportunity pass without telling them he loved them and that they are his greatest blessings. He has always been a supportive dad and husband, facilitating whatever was needed so his girls could participate in their interests - dance, art, violin, guitar, drums, band, golf, cheer - you name it and he made it happen for them. He treasured being able to support his girls at recitals and performances becoming sentimental every time and beaming with pride. There was never a doubt we were loved beyond measure. His legacy will continue through their achievements. A viewing to honor and remember Creighton will be held on Wednesday, August 30th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday, August 31st from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Brookhaven Ward, 4980 W 3285 S in West Valley City, UT. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 am at the Brookhaven Ward. “What’s the most important lap? The Last Lap”

Our sincerest condolences for the loss of Creighton. He was a very thoughtful, helpful, and welcoming person who could always bring a smile to our face. He will be truly missed. Passing on is never easy on the loved ones left behind, but solace can be had knowing his time came while he was he doing what he loved.
I got to know Creighton at the airport. Anytime my hangar door was open he would stop and say hello. Real nice guy. And you’re right he did love his family and talked about them often and how proud he was of his girls. I met one of the girls at the airport.
Losing my wife unexpectedly at the age of 42, is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. But I know from experience that with the Lords help, the help of family, friends and time, you will make it too! Open your door and let the angels on earth help you along.

I will miss your contagious personally the uncontrollable laughs, your passion for getting things accomplished. I send much love and respect to your family. PRAYERS SENT
We are so sorry for your lose, Creighton was a wonderful man that had a positive impact everywhere he went. We had many good times together at off-road racing events and have enjoyed watching him build his own company from the ground up.
I'm very sorry for your loss and it was a shock to get this sad news. It was a pleasure working with Creighton over the years and he was so knowledgeable and fun to work with it didn't seem like work at all! He will be sorely missed but take comfort in the fact that he's in a better place now.
I spent many hours on the phone and in emails with Creighton to get the machines he needed. His excitement to manufacture his parts in the USA and discussing our children will be my favorite memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Creighton. I only knew him through Facebook and groups that we were both participating in. I know from reading his posts that he was a man among men.
There are no words when you lose someone so young and so unexpectedly.
Ironically, my nephew (age 37) passed that same morning.
I will make it a point to Zoom in to the services.
Please know you are in my prayers and I _know_ that everything we have learned about life after life is _true_.
May you experience the peace that passeth understanding.

My sincere condolence, prayers for his family. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I met Creighton in a parking lot because he had a cool Jeep. I was honored to spot for him in the first couple years of UROC and honored to call him my friend since that first day. Our deepest condolences to your family, he will be missed.
Gaye and family, so sorry for your loss. Hope our prayers will help you feel comfort and peace at this very difficult time.
That friend that is always there when you need a friend, that was Creighton ! We spent many a night talking aviation in the hanger. Talking about dreams and possibilities. New ways of building flying machines . Creighton was born and raised with a huge heart like his dad Ray. Both Ray and Creighton offered help at a time when I had made some poor decisions. The wasn’t just an airport friendship, that’s how it started but they believed in me when others didn’t. I am so grateful to have had both Ray and Creighton’s support friendship and love in my life. I realize we can’t see each other in the flesh but the memories, and their spirit will always be in my heart. I am a better person having known both Creighton and Ray. My prayers are with Tonya and the family. The Kings are truly special people.
Creighton helped and supported me a lot in the last several months. A giant for good. Thanks for the blessing of knowing you. We will all miss you.
I am so sorry for you and your girls loss. Please accept my condolences.
I first met Creighton at where else, Oshkosh. I knew he was friends with the Patey’s, and his invention, GripLock Ties really got my attention. So I made a point of visiting his booth at Osh. It was interesting, no matter how busy he was he would stop and just listen to what you had to say. He didn’t have a “pitch “ … he just explained what GLT’s were and why he created them. But there was subtlety, a way of connecting with people, in his way, that went beyond and formed connections and bonds with many folks.
I shall miss him.
Prayers and comfort for you and your daughters.
Creighton was one of the great people we met and saw over the years!!

We couldn't attend Creighton's funeral or viewing because Byron had a medical procedure. We enjoyed a recent visit with him, & I enjoyed teaching him when he was young. He invited me to come see his ducks back then. It's nice to see he enjoyed teaching in church as an adult, the love for his family & others, & his accomplishments. We send love, peace, & comfort to Gaye, his family, & loved ones. Fly with the angels now Creighton.
