  • Laurent Cyril “Dave” Courteille, 45, our loving father, son, brother, friend, and devoted Star Wars fan passed away on January 7, 2022, in West Jordan, Utah due to health complications. Dave was born in Valognes, France to his devoted, adoring mother Chantal Jeanne on October 31, 1976. Dave was an older brother to his only sibling Samuel. The two were inseparable and protected each other fiercely and without question. Dave married the love of his life on March 21, 2011, in Salt Lake City, Utah and went on to have two beautiful children, Jax and Quinn Courteille.
Dave was a son who honored his mother, a brother who protected his brother, a father that adored and lived completely for his children, a husband who loved and cherished his wife, and a friend who showed total loyalty. Dave lived for his people and his little pitbull Kira.

He was a genuine, compassionate, and charismatic man. He could walk into any room and not only be comfortable but become the life of the party and get welcomed back with open arms. Dave exuded confidence not only in himself but into everyone around him and provided the room with a sense of comfort and joy. You could be yourself with Dave, he didn’t judge you, he accepted you wholeheartedly.
Dave bonded with his children, nieces, and nephews over Marvel, DC and Star Wars beginning a legacy that will live on through all the hearts he’s touched. The force was truly strong with him.

He was our rock and will be greatly missed!

Dave is survived by his mother Chantal Claudine Celine Jeanne, wife Sarah Ann Courteille, his children Jax Micheal Octave Courteille and Quinn Kathryn Suzanne Courteille, brother Samuel Mathieu-Luc Courteille, sister Shandy Lee Wrigley, niece Brynlee Ann Wrigley, nephew Lucas Wayne Roland Courteille, in-laws Susan Marchant and Michael Large, Dave was preceded in death by his grandma Suzanne Therese Brothelande, grandpa Octave Desire Joseph Jeanne, his beloved dog Kira Courteille, and grandparents Kathryn and Jack Gerber.

The small time I knew you, you were super awesome and made me smile for sure. I won’t forget that! You’re so rad and awesome and will definitely make me feel not so nerdy for all the nerd stuff and tattoos. You are someone I am glad to have met you. Always.

Deepest condolences to the whole family. Heartbroken to hear the news. I will always have you Dave in my heart and mind. You made everything more enjoyable. Playing a game of dominos or just sharing a slice of pizza was always a blast with you. I will miss you. Au revoir mon ami.

Sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. I have many fond memories from our jr high and high school years when we all used to hang out. His family was always so fun to be around. I even learned some naughty French words from him and his little brother :-) My sincerest condolences to the family.❤️
