Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, and Friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, with his wife of 60 years by his side.

Born August 2, 1941, in Murray, Utah to Daniel Arthur Kemp and Verona Sizemore Kemp. Lynn was the only son of 4 children. He lost his father at the young age of 18 and continued to take care of the family farm for most of his life, until the property was sold.

Lynn met Sandy, the love of his life, in junior high school. They graduated from Jordan High School in 1959 and were married 2 years later, on October 20, 1961, in Crescent, Utah. Together they had 7 children. They raised their family in a small Crescent home before eventually buying a home in Riverton, Utah where Lynn worked hard to maintain a beautiful yard and garden and provided a lifetime of memories for his children and grandchildren. Lynn was hired at Denver Rio Grande Western Railroad (Union Pacific) in 1966 where he worked for 36 years as a Switch Foreman while continuing to take care of the family farm. Lynn retired from the railroad in 2002. In his retirement, Lynn enjoyed listening to old-school country music, watching western movies, working in his beautiful yard, fishing and supporting his favorite team, the Utah Jazz. He loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent every day with his loving wife.

Lynn will be remembered for his love of family, unwavering work ethic, strong but quiet nature, subtle sense of humor, and never napping, but frequently “resting his eyes.”

Lynn is survived by his wife Sandy; children: Jeff Kemp (Tammy), Brent Kemp, Robyn Kone (Jeff), Melinda Andreason (Paul) and Cody Kemp (Becky); sisters: Gaylene Kemp Enniss (Chip) and Shanna Rae Kemp Svedin (Pete); 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Kay Kemp Bednarik Chase, and sons Gerald and Darren Kemp.

A viewing will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 9:30am to 11:30am at Larkin Mortuary – Riverton 3688 West 12600 South Riverton, Utah 84065. A graveside service will be held immediately following the viewing, at Crescent Cemetery 11105 South State Street Sandy, Utah 84070.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Rocky Mountain Care-Riverton for their dedication and compassion towards Lynn during his final days.
