Today we are celebrating the life of our sweet and beautiful mother and grandmother, Dione Marguerite Hellberg, who passed peacefully January 16, 2022, one day after her 91st birthday, with her adoring family nearby. We know she is thrilled to be back together with her soulmate, Jerry Hellberg, who passed in 2015 but was at her side for most of her long life.

Born January 15, 1931 to Ben & Suzanne Sutton in Salt Lake City, she graduated from East High School. She worked for Mountain States Telephone and then United Airlines, where she modeled for the advertising department and then became a flight attendant.

Her keen sense of humor, constant smile, and friendly nature made her an instant friend to everyone who had the good fortune of crossing her path, and she had many life-long friends. A dedicated wife and mother, she loved golf and taught us all how to play, including her husband (despite the patience that would’ve required). A highlight for her was a hole-in-one during city-wide competition on number 10 at Rose Park. Together with Jerry, the love of her life, they traveled hundreds of thousands of miles in their motorhome, golfing and fishing and partying their way around the west.

It is with happy memories that we cast her ashes near the Mountain Dell golf course, where she played with the ladies assn for many decades.

She is survived by her son David (Keeley), daughters Susan Hellberg and Jennifer Braun (Peter), grandkids Samantha, Spencer, Brandon, Sadie, Connor, Mitch, and Megan, and a host of great grandkids.

A private wake is being held by her close family. In lieu of flowers, we ask simply that you hold on to fond memories of Dione and her bright spirit, and give all your family and friends a big bear hug!
