Herc Ottenheimer

1956 ~ 2021

In an unexpected turn of events, Herc fell seriously ill and went to the hospital on January 7th. At the end of the eighth day in the ICU he left us. To meet Herc was to know him. It is a deeply felt loss to so many. Herc loved spending time in southern Utah, loved Lucky, best dog ever, loved learning a new song on the guitar, and loved hanging out with friends. A curious mind took him down many paths including exploring filmmaking, films, the night sky, physics, birding, and honing his recording skills. Herc is loved and missed by so many people, including his wife, Catherine Saner, all of Catherine's family, many cousins who were like siblings to him, friends he shared so many meals with, all the members of the band Swinging Lights, his Monday night people, his Thursday afternoon gigs duo partner, and a beautiful community of musicians. He loved recording in his studio and took on all his projects with utmost care. Thank you to all the love and support everyone sent to Herc. He heard your names everyday. Huge thanks to the caring nurses and doctors who took incredible care of him (and Catherine.) Thank you to Larkin Mortuary for your caring service. Please look for a memorial event when the season changes and we can gather outdoors. We will make some loud music in his honor.
