Ivan Ron Pedersen passed away from ALS on May 2, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born in Logan, Utah on June 15, 1950, the second of five children of Ivan Pedersen and Finnetta Allen Pedersen. Siblings are Susan Boyle Weymouth, Cyndee Ash, Mark and Bart, all surviving Ron.
Ron grew up in Logan attending the Woodruff elementary, Logan Jr. and Sr. High Schools and Utah State University. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central States Mission. In 1973, Ron married Debra Johnson from Chinook, Montana whom he met at USU. Ron graduated from USU with a degree in accounting in 1974. Then he went to work for Deloitte and obtained a CPA. He left Deloitte to join Utah Mortgage (later First Security Realty Services) in 1977 and became their CFO. While at Utah Mortgage Ron graduated from the School of Mortgage Banking, a program offered through Stanford and Northwestern Universities by the Mortgage Bankers Association. He had a unique opportunity to participate in Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange, spending six weeks in Sweden in 1983. In 1986 Ron and his family moved to New York where he was CFO and then Chief Operating Officer for Norstar Mortgage, which at the time was New York's largest Mortgage company. In 1991, they moved back to SLC and Ron became National Production Manager for CrossLand Mortgage (CMC) where he participated in a management led buyout with venture capitalists and purchased CMC, and later sold to First Security. He continued to work with CMC until First Security was sold to Wells Fargo. From 2002 through 2016, Ron managed secondary marketing for Academy Mortgage, hedging interest rate risk on their loan pipeline and selling loans after closing. Academy is one of the largest independent mortgage bankers in the country.
Debbie and Ron have two sons, Jeff and Greg, and twelve grandchildren, all surviving Ron. Spending time with his family has always been Ron’s priority and source of greatest happiness, from golfing with his sons and teasing his grandkids, to enjoying the views with Debbie from the mountainside or taking road trips in exotic cars. He was the best father, grandfather and husband anyone could ask for, always supporting his family in whatever crazy endeavors they could dream up.
Ron was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various Ward and Stake teaching, scouting and leadership positions. And literally until the day he died, people could not spell his last name right.
Funeral services will include a viewing on Friday, May 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and a gathering on Saturday, May 8th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, with a graveside service immediately following at 2:00 pm, all at Larkin Sunset Gardens [1950 E Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S), Sandy, UT 84092]. All are welcome to attend.

Are hearts are saddened at Ron's passing; but rejoice in the peace he now has. Deepest sympathies to your family. Richard has so enjoyed talking with Ron over the last year and catching up on lost time and reminiscing over the year's they grew up together.

    Love to all....

How incredibly sad. Usually Ron, Brian, Paul and I ( the management team at CrossLand Mortgage - 135 offices in 35 states) would meet at least once a year post CrossLand, but with Covid and other interference it has been several years. Ron was great. Knowledgeable, smart, personable, one of the best hires I ever made who went on to much greater reward and recognition commensurate with his talents.
My heart goes out to his family. He lived for his “boys” and his/their “toys.” So sad to see such a wonderful person leave us all too soon..
