  • James (Jim) McPherson was born October 12, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to William and LaVerne McPherson. He finally succumbed on Easter afternoon.

Jim’s career in engineering took him to several industries and moved the family 29 times.
Jim and his wife, Ruth, were married in Lakewood, Ohio on October 18, 1958. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1963. They were sealed that year in the Salt Lake Temple.

Jim coached AYSO Soccer in Sandy, Utah (1982-1989). He did lighting at Promised Valley Playhouse. He was cub master and enjoyed any other activity that involved his children.
He had four children, Douglass (Pamela Robertson), Laurie (David Meyers), Erick (Cherie Smith) and Jared (Leigh Christiansen), seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

His grandchildren will miss picking cherry tomatoes and snap peas from his garden, coloring Easter Eggs and celebrating holidays with him. He would scare all the grandchildren when he would do the missing thumb trick with his half thumb. They will miss going to priesthood sessions and playing soccer with him. He was always there and made everyone smile. He was an example of patience, love and a positive influence, to not only his family, but to those who knew him.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, April 8th from 6-8pm at the Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 South) in Sandy, Utah 84092. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9th at 2:00pm with a viewing beforehand from 1-1:45pm also at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Guestbook/Condolences

    Dear Ones,
How I love you Ruth and your crazy wonderful kids. Jim, I know you can now be with your family being whole, able to send your best love to your dear Ruthie and your fantastic children. I promise to keep watch also over my dearest friend, Ruth until she joins you. I've loved knowing your family all these years and know that Heavenly Father will comfort those grieving. You have been like family to me, as Ruth and I shared our kids escapades and triumphs, and of course yours too Jim. Love to you all. See you soon in forever, Ruth
