Jerry Warren Talbot, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Herriman, Utah on September 3rd, 2021. Jerry was born on Christmas Day, 1942 in Salt Lake City to Lyle W. and Genevie Talbot. He was the youngest of five children and grew up in Magna, Utah, where he met his lifelong sweetheart Kathy in grade school. They were married July 15th, 1960. After 47 years of marriage, they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on September 20th, 2007. Kathy was his whole world, and when she passed away on his birthday in 2007, a part of him went with her. After she passed, he immersed himself into making hot pads to give away and brightening people’s day by handing out $2 bills. He made and gave away nearly 800 hot pads. Each one of them took about 8 hours to make. He was known locally as the “$2 Bill Grandpa”, often handing out $2 bills to people he would see at stores and restaurants, many of whom were kids. It brought him great joy to brighten their day with a $2 bill, and in many ways helped him deal with the loss of his eternal companion.

Jerry had a strong work ethic beginning at a very early age. At the age of 6, he earned money by collecting and sorting soda bottles at a grocery store near his home. He was a strong, quick and agile wrestler, often winning matches against much larger opponents. He attended Snow College and The University of Utah and worked at Kennecott for nearly 20 years. With an entrepreneurial mind, he was always looking for new creative business ventures. From selling firewood and tomato plants, to selling things at the flea market, to buying and selling used cars, he had a gift for sales. He owned and operated a gas station for many years. During that time, he also bought a roller-skating rink (JT's Wheels Skating), which he later converted into a wedding reception center. He always devoted tireless energy to providing for his family.

He had a knack for telling stories and a great sense of humor. He had a bunch of one-liners and stories that we have inherited and hope to pass down to future generations. He worked hard but also played hard. He loved to take the family on hunting, fishing and camping trips and travel the world with his beloved wife Kathy.

His pride and joy was his red 1956 Corvette. He loved driving it around town with the top off and taking it to parades and car shows where he won multiple trophies. He was able to take it for one final ride just a few days before he passed, and he had a smile on his face the whole time.

Preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Kathy, and his brothers Sam (Elwin) Talbot and Leon Talbot. He is survived by his sister Elaine Hepworth, his brother Dan (Geri), his four sons Ronald, Brett (Angela), Travis (Kara) and Ryan, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 10th from 6-8 pm at Larkin Funeral Home in Riverton (3688 W. 12600 S.). Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11th at 12 pm at the LDS church at 14398 S. 6400 W. (Knapper Point Cove) in Herriman. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:45 for family and friends prior to services.
