  • The Life Story of
    Jesse James Martin Jr.
    “Oowie”

Jesse James Martin Jr.“Oowie” was born in Whittier, California to Colleen and Jesse James Martin Sr. on December 21st, 1995. He was the youngest of six children. He was nicknamed “Oowie” as a child, a name given to him by his grandmother.

Oowie and his family moved from California to Salt Lake City, Utah in 2001. Oowie began his formative years attending South Jordan Elementary School, where he met Ismail Afridi, his lifelong friend. They both attended South Jordan Middle School and Bingham High School.

Oowie enjoyed a wide variety of activities. Some of his favorites were playing basketball, snowboarding, skateboarding, and videogames. He was a very social person, bringing people together, introducing others, creating bonds, and loved spending time with his parents, family, and friends. He took after his older brothers in his love for cars. The car culture represented many of his interests.

He could talk your head off for hours, lighting up the room with his smile and charm. His charisma gave him the ability to talk to anyone in the room. He had a lot of compassion, for people and animals. He loved his dogs especially his goldendoodle, Calvin. His sense of fashion was immanent, and he proudly carried himself. Oowie lived life to the fullest and took every opportunity to have a good time with the people he cared about.

Those who preceded Jesse James Martin Jr. in death are his grandmother Carol Himes; older brother Anthony Guzman; and cousin Ricky Nilos, whom he now joins in Heaven. Those who live to cherish his memories are his parents Colleen Martin and Jesse James Martin Sr; siblings Michael Guzman, Cristina Munoz, Lorenzo Martin, and Steven Martin; grandparents Jesse and Maria Luisa Martin del Campo; nieces and nephews Jessica Guzman, Valerie Chaidez, Penelope Chaidez and Lorenzo Martin. Many other family and friends.

Vigil and recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin on Wednesday, August 26th at 6:00 PM followed by a visitation from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) Sandy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27th at 12:00 PM at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 300 East 11800 South, Draper.

    Guestbook/Condolences

    Dear Martin family,

It hurts my heart to imagine the pain and loss your are feeling right now. I will pray for you all to be granted the peace and comfort the Savior promised.

    John 14:1-3
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

With love, Marti Stringham (in Carrie Rim Circle, the green house with yellow bricks))

There is no words to describe my deepest sadness for your loss. I just know that he was deeply love by my daughter and her husband., I have seeing them cry in disbelief . Too young, a very early departure but Rest In Peace knowing that He is on the Lord’s arms. Remember that not a leaf falls without God’s permission. May the Lord bless you and
Gives the comfort and peace that you need. With much love the Hubers
