Jorge Alejandro Sanchez Soto, 76, husband, father, grandfather, and brother died at home with complications of cancer on February 8, 2021 with his wife and family by his side. He married Virginia Leigh Nance on November 8, 1975 In the Provo Utah Temple. Jorge was born to Enrique Sanchez Zacarias and Victoria Rosa Soto-Rivadeneira on December 12, 1944 in Callao, Lima, Peru. He grew up in Lima where he attended a private catholic school. When he was 16 years old his father died and as a loving child he became very protective of his mother. His nickname was “Coqui” and he was her boy willing to fight with anyone who would speak about her. He valued education and pursued a BS degree from Catolico University in Lima, Peru in Economics and also attended Trujillo University in Trujillo, Peru. He went to seminary school to become a catholic priest and then decided against it. His brother Henry joined the LDS church and Jorge decided to research it for a couple years to find out more. Eventually he was baptized on July 17th, 1971 in Lima, Peru. Six months later with the support and help of his brother he moved to the United States in search of religious freedom. He followed in his footsteps and attended Brigham Young University. He played soccer for BYU and was a tutor in the math department as well as teaching Spanish in the MTC. While attending BYU he met his wife Virginia and two days less than one month they were married for time and eternity. On December 19, 1975 he graduated with a BS degree in Accounting. This was a centennial year when Dallin H. Oaks was the president of BYU and President Kimball was the President of the Board of Directors. One month later they moved to Peru. A year later they were expecting their first child Jorge E. Sanchez. He was so very proud and happy to be a father. Six months after Jorge was born they moved to Illinois. After they had their second child Henry they moved to Provo, Utah and had two more boys and one girl. Jorge became a United States Citizen on December 5, 1980 in Provo, Utah. It was a big deal to him and he taught his children to have pride in being an American. In 1981 he worked in Scofield at the Valley Camp mine as an accountant. Living in Carbon County they had four more boys. They raised their family in Price, Utah later moving to Salt Lake City in 2002. They were married for 45 years. He loved his family, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and food.
Survived by his wife Virginia Leigh Nance, and their children Jorge (Alyssa Blackburn) Sanchez Saratoga Springs, Henry Sanchez Taylorsville, Michael (Mandi Powelson) Sanchez Taylorsville, Joseph (Jean Smith) Sanchez Medford Oregon, Nancy (Scott) Hoyt St. George, David Sanchez West Valley, Thomas Sanchez California, Mathew Sanchez St. George, Alex Sanchez Taylorsville. and 13 grandchildren. Also, his siblings Enrique (Raynette) Sanchez Carlinville Illinois, Alberto (Nelly Yong) Sanchez, Pisco, Ica, Peru, Julia Sanchez (Oscar Nicholas Linares) San Miguel, Lima, Peru.
He is preceded in death by his father Enrique Sanchez Zacarias, his mother Victoria Rosa Soto, and brother Genero Sebastian Sanchez.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, 1200 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah.

Cuando él tenía 16 años su padre falleció y como un hijo amoroso se volvió muy protector de su madre. Su apodo era “Coqui” y era su niño listo para pelear con quien hablará sobre ella. El valoraba la educación y persiguió un bachillerato en Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Católica en Lima, Peru y Tambien atendió la Universidad de Trujillo en Trujillo, Perú. Fue a la escuela seminaria para convertirse en sacerdote Catholico y después decidió que no. Su hermano Henry se unió a la iglesia LDS y Jorge decidió investigar sobre la iglesia uno años para aprender más sobre ella. Eventualmente se bautizó el 17 de Julio 1971 en Lima, Perú. Seis meses después con la ayuda de su hermano él se mudo a los Estados Unidos en búsqueda de libertad religiosa. El siguió sus pasos y fue a la Universidad de Brigham Young. El jugaba fútbol para el equipo de BYU y fue tutor en el departamento de matemáticas como también enseñaba Español en MTC. Mientras atendía BYU él conoció a su esposa Virginia y 2 dias antes del mes se casaron para la eternidad. El 19 de Diciembre de 1975 él se graduó con un bachillerato en contabilidad. Este fue un año centenario cuando Dallin H. Oaks fue el presidente de BYU y Presidente Kimball fue el presidente de la Junta Directiva. Un mes después se mudaron a Perú. Un año después estaban esperando su primer hijo Jorge E. Sanchez. El estaba tan orgulloso y feliz de ser padre. Seis meses después de que Jorge nació se mudaron a Illinois. Después de que nació su segundo hijo Henry se mudaron a Provo, Utah y tuvieron dos hijos más y una hija. Jorge se volvió ciudadano de los Estados Unidos el 5 de Diciembre de 1980 en Provo, Utah. Para él fue un gran logro y les enseñó a sus hijos a sentirse orgullosos de ser Americanos. En 1981 trabajó en Scofield en la mina Valley Camp como contador. Mientras vivían en Carbon County ellos tuvieron cuatro hijos más. Ellos crearon su familia en Price, Utah y después se mudaron a Salt Lake City en el 2002. Estuvieron casados por 45 años. Servicios se llevarán acabo Sábado 20 de Febrero 2021 a la 1:00 pm en el cementerio de Vine Bluff, 1200 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah.
