Karla Ann Laing passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022, in Murray, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rulon Ray Timothy and Jenean Bertie Phibbs. After the passing of her mother and later her father, she was adopted by Elbert McEwan Livesey and Ruth Ellen Hansen.

Karla was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from West High School in 1972. She went on to pursue her education at Ricks College and subsequently BYU. She graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's degree in Family Relations and Child Development. After graduation, she was called to serve the people of Toronto, Canada as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Karla was blessed with three children, three in-laws she considered her own, and 10 grand children whom she loved dearly. One of her favorite activities to do with them all was roasting marshmallows in the canyons. The grandchildren always loved the pudding painting, peanut butter play dough, and other crafts she always had planned for them. She shared her love of art, crafts, creativity, poetry, songs, books, cooking, and nature with her children and grandchildren. She lived to make memories.

Karla dedicated many years serving in the Salt Lake City Temple. One of her greatest joys was tending children who awaited to be sealed to their families. Her temple service brought so much joy to her life. She was a great example of love and service. She always put the care of others in front of her own.

Karla is survived by her children: Jeffrey Scott Laing (ManDee), Midland, TX; Laura Carter (Ryan), Salt Lake City, UT; Krista Adams (Brian), Eagle Mountain, UT; 10 grandchildren; Karla’s siblings: Jenean Livesey and Joan Johnson; Karla’s half siblings: Vickie Pavlovich and Douglas Timothy.

Karla is preceded in death by her birth parents Rulon Ray Timothy and Jenean Bertie Phibbs and her adopted parents Elbert McEwan Livesey and Ruth Ellen Hansen.

    - Carol Ann Conlin

To all of your that loved Karla, I send my condolences. I knew her for about 4-5 years. She was a gentle, sweet lady. She loved the Lord and was quite knowledgeable about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I'm so sorry, and I know many of you are grieving at this time. She will be watching over her family she loved so well.
Till we meet again, dear Sister, know that you made a deep impression of undying love and a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints upon you family, friends and many others. You are loved.
