  • Lois Vivian Allen Stoddard, our beloved Mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully the morning of February 13, 2021.
Lois was born in Paradise, Utah on December 24, 1927 to Lorus and Amy Allen. What a special Christmas gift for the Allen family. She had a wonderful childhood in Paradise, where she was raised on a farm with a loving family. She always said how much her parents spoiled her.

She met the love of her life, Ralph Stoddard, at a South Cache High School basketball game. They would be temporarily separated by World War II, but they continued to correspond with each other. Upon Ralph’s return from the War, they were married in Paradise and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Before Ralph’s passing in 2019, they celebrated 73 beautiful years of marriage.

They were blessed with three children and raised their family in Holladay. Lois enjoyed many associations with family and friends over the years. She loved to share stories about her work experiences at ZCMI and Deseret Book.

Lois loved making friends everywhere she went and made everyone she met feel special and loved. She enjoyed sharing her story with others and how many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren she had. She enjoyed her High School experience and always made time to return to her class reunions and renew old acquaintances over the years.

She derived great joy and happiness through her family and seeing her family grow. She was known by the nickname “Gram”, her family will always cherish the many individual memories she created with them over the years.

Lois was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years. One of her favorites, in her later years, was a primary calling with Ralph. They were called to be “grandma and grandpa friendly”. This calling allowed her to share her grandmotherly kindness with the primary children of the ward.

Gram’s presence will be deeply missed, but her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of her family. We are saddened by her passing; but are comforted by the thought of the joyous reunion with loved ones as she returns home to the paradise of her heavenly home.

Lois is survived by daughter Vickie Blodgett, son Gary (Debi) Stoddard, daughter Teresa (Dale) Triptow, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
