  • Mary Ann “Sandy” Hope Anderson slipped away to heaven on October 2, 2021, surrounded by friends and family. She was born on December 1, 1953. Preceded in death by parents Fred and June Hope. Grew up in North Bend/Coos Bay, went to Coos Catholic School. In 1966, our family moved to Corvallis, Oregon.

Sandy graduated from Corvallis High School in 1972. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” David Anderson and son, Spencer Burton Anderson, sisters: Eileen (Chris) Langton and Erin (Steve) Hughes. Brother-in-law: Richard M. (Marian) Anderson and sisters in law: Barbara S.A. Harrison and Julie C. Anderson.

She worked at SLC US Bank as an administrative assistant. She also was an aide with special needs at Riverside Elementary. She positively influenced many students; Sandy served an honorable Swiss/German mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She met Bob, the love of her life and married him in the Salt Lake Temple on August 12, 1995.

She loved to scrapbook, documenting memorable events. She loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. She loved fall and spring and fresh Christmas trees. She and her family loved to go places and see God’s world.
She valiantly fought against cancer and was always optimistic about life.

We want to thank the doctors and staff at Jordan Valley Medical Center for taking care of Sandy in the hospital, and the doctors at Utah Cancer Specialists, Good Shepherd Hospice, Aspen Ridge Home Health and the many friends and family that helped with Sandy’s care and her family members.

A viewing will be held on October 8, 2021, at Plum Creek Ward (1465 W. Bristol Ridge Road, West Jordan, UT, 84088) from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on October 9, 2021, at Plum Creek Ward at 10 AM. An additional viewing will be held an hour prior to services.

Interment will take place at Salt Lake City Cemetery following services.

Bob and Spencer, I was so sorry to hear about Sandy’s passing. I absolutely loved working with her at Riverside! She was such a sweet lady and had such a positive presence! Sending love and hugs to both of you at this difficult time!

Bob, I hope you and your family are doing the best you can at such a heart breaking time. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your wife, that brief phone call I got from her when she was trying to get in touch with you at work because the door handle broke on the front door and she needed you to come home to fix it lol. She was so sweet and had such a pleasant, welcoming and friendly voice truly showed how kind and loving of a person I'm sure she was. Please let me know if there is anything you need. I send my love, Tili.

I've known Sandy for almost 50 years. She was the definition of cheerfulness. As I think of her I can hear her voice in my mind; a voice always filled with enthusiasm for life. She will be missed.
