  • On Monday, January 25, 2021, Mary passed away peacefully of natural causes. We were grateful to be able to have her home, surrounded by family and her beloved dogs.

Mary McEwan was born on April 2, 1937, in Salt Lake City to Owen and Louise McEwan. She spent her childhood in the Parley’s area, where she made many fond memories with her family. She was always a “daddy’s girl.” Her favorite place to be was at the family cabin in Pines Ranch.

She married Clark Gleave (deceased), Richard Isaacs (deceased), and has spent the last 35 years with Werner Larsen (Moose). The family is so grateful for the happy life Moose gave her. Over the years they raised dozens of chickens together. They loved “their girls” and all the fresh eggs. They enjoyed frequent getaways to Wendover. He’s been her caretaker for the last several years and made sure all her needs were met. Mary raised 3 rambunctious boys; Robert (Pam) Gleave, Kevin (Natalie) Gleave, and Michael Gleave. She considered her boys her greatest accomplishments. She had seven granddaughters (McKensie, Hallie, Madeline, Merisa, Megan, Mallory and Shantal), one grandson (Matthew), and one great-granddaughter on the way. She always looked forward to visits from her grandchildren. They loved her and brought her joy. She is also survived by her sister Marj Kilmer (John), and brothers Tom McEwan (Janelle), Bill McEwan (Janet) and adored nieces and nephews. She appreciated and looked forward to her frequent visits with her special friend Claudia. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Beth Bush and Carol Wilkinson.

She worked in the laboratory at the U of U and later at LDS Hospital. She spent her time golfing, bowling and dancing with the High Stepper’s Club. She was also a proud member of the Ambassador’s Club. Through these activities, she made and fostered lifelong friendships. She was a voracious reader of all genres. Reading several books a week kept her mind sharp. Mary never left the house without a great pair of earrings and a stylish outfit to match. She was a beautiful woman on the inside and out.

There will be a visitation from 5:00-6:00 PM with a small family service to follow on Saturday, January 30th at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah. A small graveside service will be held in the Spring at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
