Melvin Carl Atwood, 79 of Tooele Utah, passed away peacefully March 24, 2021. He was born November 16, 1941 in Bountiful Utah to Carl W. Atwood and Lillian Beth Winegar Atwood.
He married his high school sweetheart Carolynne Hughes, September 9, 1961, later divorced. He then married his soulmate, Adrianne Vasquez Atwood January 1, 2005.
Mel loved the Street Rod world of drag racing, mud racing and snowmobiling. He also, restored old cars, his pride and joy was his 1969 Buick Riviera and his 1964 Pontiac GTO, in which he had entered into many car shows. He loved his spoiled-rotten dog Lashes, hunting, fishing and hanging out at the coffee shop sharing a good laugh, a few cuss words and a cup of coffee with his friends.(Especially with Dan)
He subtly competed with the neighbors in an effort to have the greenest and most immaculate lawn. His immense pride in his yard, pond and flower garden made his homes look like a picture from the Better Homes and Garden magazine.
Mel is survived by his 3 daughters, Kaylene (Rod) Hyatt, Brenda (Robert) Ahre, Trena Williams, son Jason (James) Atwood, step children Micaela (Lazaro) Herrera, Angela Vasquez, Sylvia Vasquez, many Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters Carla (Alpheaus)Shirley and Donna Cuzick.
He is preceded in death by his wife Adrienne Atwood, Parents Carl and Beth Atwood, his sisters Betty and Vickie Atwood, and his brother David (Bucky) Atwood.
Viewing will be Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM at Larkin Mortuary at 260 East South Temple, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
For those who wish to pay respect his final resting place will be at Bountiful City Cemetery at 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful, Utah.

Grew up the street from Carl. My brother was a good friend to Carl. Played and went to school together.
I am sorry that I missed his service. Lots of memories!! My condolences to his family. RIP Carl.
