Nellie Warner Korbis passed away with her family at her bedside on June 4, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born in Richfield, Utah to Myrtle and Iris Warner and was the last living sibling of their 6 children. For most of Nellie’s childhood, she was raised by her kind, sweet, loving widowed mother.

Nellie graduated from South High School in 1949, married George Korbis on December 2, 1951 and together they had four children, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She had her first child, Teresa, while George was serving in the Korean War. Their second child, Brenda, was born 9 months after George returned from Korea. Kris was born two years later and then Penny joined the family 7 years after that. Nellie had her hands full with 3 young children under the age of 4.

Most of Nellie’s adult life was spent as a homemaker, but she worked as a Secretary / Bookkeeper at Harris & Love Advertising and also as a Licensing Clerk for Larry Miller. She LOVED the Jazz! Nellie was an excellent seamstress and cook, but she was exceptional with her needlework.

Nellie is survived by her children: Brenda (Larry) Hansen, Kris (Marcia) Korbis, Penny (Paul) Rainaldi, son-in-law Kevin McLaughlin; her grandchildren: Kali Korbis, Atalea (Josh) Arnold, Anthony (Demi) Rainaldi; her great granddaughter Addelyn (Demi & Anthony) Rainaldi. She was preceded in death by her husband George (2010) and daughter Teresa (2008).

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9th at 10:30 at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 9201 South 1300 East, Sandy, Utah. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Thanks to the many caregivers who have lovingly attended to Nellie over the last several years.
