Douglas Clyde Balfour passed away Friday, May 8, 2020. He was born May 12, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald and Phyllis Balfour.
Doug married Mary Anne in July of 1985 where they have spent the last 34 plus years together completing life adventures together, year after year one challenge at a time.
Doug retired from the Granite School District after providing 38 1/2 years of dedication to Kearns Junior High and Thomas Jefferson Junior High. Doug also worked with his brother Darin at Balfour Plumbing for 20 years and although the work was hard, he loved working with his brother and the sense of accomplishment it gave him. Doug was known for being a perfectionist, always striving for doing any job exactly right and it was evident in everything he did on a daily basis.
When Doug was not working he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Family was important to Doug, even though he often struggled letting those close to him know how much they meant to him.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anne, his daughter Rhiannon (Andy) Morrison, his sons Cameron (Shanin) and Preston, grandchildren: Dakota (Alex), Kayden, Gracelyn, Kanin, LaRue, Great Grandson Camden. Doug is also survived by his mother, Phyllis, brothers Don (Judy), Darin (Bonnie) and many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his father Don and brother Dennis.
Doug’s family will say their final goodbyes in a private gathering. We will then celebrate his life with his fathers (Don) celebration of life in June

I am so sad for the loss of Doug. He was a loved part of our family and we will miss him. Life is such a fleeting thing and when our loved ones leave us we mourn the loss of their presence in our lives. We are praying for Doug’s wife and children that they will be comforted at this time of loss. We will miss you Doug.

I was saddened to hear of Doug's passing..... I've missed his smile and he was always very nice to me while we worked together at Jefferson Jr. High! My sympathy for you and the boys.
Doug my co-worker, my best friend for 33 years. I met him opening Jefferson Jr.High. Doug was an amazing man. He didn't want many to know how soft his heart was. I was lucky enough to see his interactions with Students at their most awkward times, his patience, sense of humor with them was amazing. Doug was our Counseling Center's "go to Diabetic Expert" if a student/staff was ever in a Diabetic emergency, Doug was right there to help. He was highly respected by Granite School District Maintenance Dept. as a professional, skilled, honest, kind, friendly, co-worker. Doug loved his family deeply. He wasn't a man of many words, I was one of the few he share his pride of them with. He was so very proud of his boys and their successes. He loved his Kanin and Rue Rue (his name for her) so much, he loved to argue over names of things (pizzer, buca-buca) with a 5 year old, and loved watching Rue in her shorts and her cowgirl boots.. Much love to Maryanne, Preston, Cameron & Shanin and their sweet little family.. My heart breaks for you and your loss of a your partner, your Dad and Grandpa. I'm going to miss him very much, a friend like him doesn't come around often. He's finally feeling better and at peace with his Dad and Brother.
